Trump Says Democrats Can't Impeach Him Because He's Doing A 'Great Job'

Source: Bloomberg

By John Micklethwait, Jennifer Jacobs and Margaret Talev, 3 hrs. ago.

Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said that Democrats shouldn’t try to impeach him, citing a strong economy, his performance on foreign policy and the danger of setting a precedent making it too easy to remove future presidents.

"I don’t think they can impeach somebody that’s doing a great job," Trump said Thursday in a White House interview with Bloomberg News. “You look at the economy, you look at jobs, you look at foreign, what’s going on with other countries. You look at trade deals. I’m doing a great job.”

Republicans have tried to frame the November elections as a decision about whether Democrats will be able to impeach Trump. While Democratic leaders have largely avoided talking about impeachment, some Democratic candidates and outside groups have dangled the prospect of removing the president from office to help boost turnout in the election.

Trump said that if he’s impeached, then every future president would be in danger of the same fate whenever the opposition gains control of Congress...More...

"So you get elected as a Republican or a Democrat and the opposite party gets put into the House. That would mean, oh, let’s impeach him. Can’t do it,” Trump said. “If you look at the definition of impeachment, that’s a high bar and that would take a long time to fight that if you’re doing a good job. And I’m doing a great job.”

Every story which reports on a Trump quote like this ought to contain a paragraph which explains the idea of "consciousness of guilt" and how it would relate to his comment.

Trump's yammering about impeachment b/c he knows he deserves it.

If, in the mid-terms, enough scorn is heaped upon the Trumpublican party in America's voting booths, and it's demonstrated that Trumpublicans are not the party to carry our nation forward, I think you'll see a mass exodus back to the old Republican party. I think both Trumpublicans and Republicans will be roundly rejected for their dumbfuckery of late, and will suffer substantial political setbacks for a decade or so, at least. I'm counting on Americans to make a large swing back to the left after the horrors of the fascist Trump years. It's past time for the pendulum to swing back in our direction for the health and sanity of the nation.

It would be like the proverbial wolf crawling back into his sheep's clothing, for realizing that staying disguised is the best way.

No. I like this GOPee just fine: their true colors, for all to see and impossible to deny.

Norman Lear had it right 45 years ago with the iconic Archie Bunker: most of them have always been this way, they just never felt empowered to act out in the way they are now.

The Rethugs sure didn't set a high bar for Bill Clinton.

You could set the bar high enough to ignore the misdemeanors part for impeachment and Dirty Lil Donnie should still be impeached, along with co-conspirators. Lock him up in public stocks. Hand out buckets of pig shit to any passersby who appear to have good throwing arms.

And Bitchy Mitchy makes his toadies swear daily in the name of whatever Pagan demon they worship, never to vote for impeachment no matter what.

But Democrats can still initiate investigations - and deciding where to beign should be a cinch, what with that handy sreadsheet leaked from Mitchy's office.

HE knows they have it all on him and his family now, and expects indictments maybe real soon for some of them very close to him . He always tries to put misinformation , redirection , and lies out before something drops on him. Expect his threats towards everyone to escalate , and he'll fail badly , along with anything else he tries, as his power is almost gone as more people turn on him , and people in Congress also. He's done, and its almost over as more becomes exposed on this treasonous corrupt criminal as he faces consequences finally for a career of crime. The KGOP who have taken ANY money funneled to them by the NRA from putin are going to be exposed too.
