Trouble for Trump: Disapproval at a high, 63% back Mueller, half favor impeachment
Source: ABC News
Disapproval of Donald Trump is at a new high, support for the Mueller investigation is broad and half of Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll favor Congress initiating impeachment proceedings against the president.
Sixty percent in the national survey disapprove of Trumps performance in office, numerically the highest of his presidency, albeit by a single point; that includes 53 percent who disapprove strongly, more than half for the first time. Thirty-six percent approve, matching his low.
The results come a week after Trumps former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was convicted of fraud, and his former longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to eight felonies, including illegal campaign finance actions that he said Trump directed.
Trumps average approval rating since taking office is the lowest for any president in modern polling since the 1940s. One factor: Contrary to his drain the swamp rhetoric, 45 percent say corruption in Washington has increased under Trump, while just 13 percent say its declined.

(6,377 posts)Im friends with a reporter from the Indianapolis Star who covered Trumps rally last night. She tweeted that an hour into the rally, people started to leave in large numbers, just straight up walking out. She also said she talked to a lot of people while they were waiting for the rally to start who said although they like trump, they disapprove of both the tax cuts and the tariffs.

(15,286 posts)"tell me something I don't know" segments where one of the guests said that 1/3 of Trump rally goers aren't Trump voters/supporters. Took that to mean that those people just go for "the show" Trump puts on. Based on that, I'd guess those leaving are part of that group. Trump's probably getting to the point where his act and rhetoric are getting old.

(2,143 posts)Donald Trump Campaign Offered Actors $50 to Cheer for Him at Presidential Announcement
2:53 PM PDT 6/17/2015 by Aaron Couch , Emmet McDermot
A casting call was sent out last week "looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement."
Donald Trump's big presidential announcement Tuesday was made a little bigger with help from paid actors at $50 a pop.
New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump's event.
"We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement," reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. "We understand this is not a traditional 'background job,' but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought." (Read the full email at the bottom of the post.)

The pay was listed as $50 for less than three hours of work. According to the email, Extra Mile was reaching out to potential extras in partnership with Gotham Government Relations and Communications, a New York-Based political consulting group that has worked with Trump in the past. Gotham GR had no comment.
Questions as to whether the Trump campaign had hired extras were first raised Wednesday by anti-Trump activist Angelo Carusone, who came across an Instagram photo showing a man he recognized as a background actor posing at the Trump event. Carusone screengrabbed the photo of the actor, Domenico Del Giacco, and published it in a blog post. The photo shows Del Giacco with a woman, identified in the now-deleted Instagram post as actress Courtney Klotz. (Del Giacco has since deleted his entire Instagram account.)

(8 posts)I live in Indy. It's true. I'm not sure about flat out KKK members in the state, but it is a huge Trump state. Outside of Northwest Indiana and to some extent Indy it's largely Republican. I've lived here my whole life and despise it. Can't wait to retire and get out of here.
As for the numbers, I'm sure Fox News will come out and say that poll is dead wrong and Trump is wildly popular...

(43,162 posts)this could be the mother of all midterm elections. That assumes our party has learned from other midterms, deploys assets well, is flexible enough to seize opportunities such as nuances of message in local districts, partners with other progressive groups, can throttle up after Oct 24, uses social media as well as Obama campaigns did, and does not have its message blunted by opposition groups.
We should drive the anger of the people at the Republican incumbents. If there was ever a time to throw caution to the wind, October is it, we have to go for broke. Because if we don't, it's over.

(6,228 posts)The repubs posting there keep saying how the polls were wrong for Hillary and they are wrong now. I pointed out that what is going on is similar to what happened to the Dems in November 2010. The Dems ignored the polls and Dems who retired or resigned. Then the Dems lost big in November 2010. I think trump supporters are more in denial than the Dems were because of their lack of facts. They are fed the lies from Fox and rightie web sites. Just vote in November folks. We have to save our country.
