Ford wants FBI investigation before testifying

The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault says the FBI should investigate the incident before senators hold a hearing on the allegations.

In a letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and obtained by CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," Christine Blasey Ford's attorneys argue that "a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions."

The letter from Ford's lawyers notes that despite receiving a "stunning amount of support from her community," Ford has also "been the target of vicious harassment and even death threats" and has been forced to leave her home.

"We would welcome the opportunity to talk with you and Ranking Member Feinstein to discuss reasonable steps as to how Dr. Ford can cooperate while also taking care of her own health and security," the letter from Ford's lawyers said.

"What we're saying is there should be an investigation because that's the right thing to do," Ford's attorney Lisa Banks told Cooper.

say that this is in the FBI's court because it is a part of completing their previous investigation/check. He didn't seem bothered by it.

14. Having said that, I'm still wondering how Kavanaugh's team had 65 people

lined up and ready to go as character witnesses from his high school days...as though they had advance warning of the letter. Either Ford was a known commodity...or...there was enough reason in the Kavanaugh camp to think that Kavanaugh would have trouble getting support by women due to that time period, for whatever reason.

It is the FBI's job to conduct background investigations of Federal nominees including judges. It is up to the person nominating the person to request a background investigation, so far Trump has refused to instruct the FBI to update their background investigation of Kavanaugh to asses the credibility of these claims.

In actuality, it is a smart move. Otherwise, she was looking at a pure for show hearing where she wouldn't be allowed to present evidence or call her own witnesses. At this point, with all the stuff that has been coming out, it is clear Kavanaugh was a frequent drunk that liked to party during his high school days. He couldn't credibly say what he did or didn't do at a party because he was likely blackout drunk.

20. Screw the midterms.

One of these two will have the onus of liar on them. It doesn't take extraordinary perception to see that he is lying and she is not. Only the dimmest of assholes thinks she is lying.

She deserves more than a bunch of old guys telling her how she should feel in front of the cameras. She needs vindication.

It is not her job to do the congress's job. If they don't behave and act with honesty, it is not on her. If she tells her story and gets grilled by those republican monsters, it won't make any difference in what they are going to do. Collins has been in the bag from day one. Ford shouldn't have to play the she said/they said game with those lying sacks of shit without some backing from an FBI investigation.

This is just further proof of how far our country has fallen. If we can't muster three or four elected republicans to be decent human beings, then maybe we deserve to lose what is left of the American experiment.

He shouldn't be serving in any court as a judge , and should be removed from sitting on any bench, he's a liar and corrupt. She is being intimidated to appear without ANY investigation , which is trump and the kgop showing contempt for women , and justice , and the rule of law by doing this to her, and getting her to be put under oath , and no witnesses allowed, or investigative results from what happened. Once again we see the candidate who claimed to be for law and order, real ambitions are to be lawless, and without any order , except for everyone else and his chosen ones. Remember trump refuses to be put under oath and to talk before Mueller, but he's all for her to be put in that position.
