Senate Democrats on Wednesday demanded that President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, withdraw from consideration after a third woman came forward accusing him of sexual misconduct.
Moments after the allegations -- which NBC News has not independently verified and were firmly denied by Kavanaugh -- were made public, Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a statement that Kavanaugh should step aside. He also implored Republicans to "immediately suspend the proceedings related to" the judge's nomination.
"I strongly believe Judge Kavanaugh should withdraw from consideration. If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations," Schumer said. In a letter to Trump, all 10 Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee called for Kavanaugh's nomination to be withdrawn.
"The standard of character and fitness for a position on the nation's highest court must be higher than this. Judge Kavanaugh has staunchly declared his respect for women and issued blanket denials of any possible misconduct, but those declarations are in serious doubt," the lawmakers wrote. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., said he was planning to file a lawsuit to halt Kavanaugh's confirmation process "due to unconstitutional presidential interference."...More...

Wonder how that would work? Don't know if there has been any precedent for that.

(7,142 posts)the reich is winning the narrative. I watched Kavanagh's lawyer go on Wolf and totally own him. I watched Kavanaugh's lawyer go on Katy Tur and totally own her. Funny how the lawyer chose to go on programs of people who are not the sharpest pencils in the box. No good follow up questions from either Wolf or Tur.
I watched replays of Miss Lyndsey stating he is planning on voting for Kavanaugh Friday.
I watched attempts to take down Michael Avenatti, videos of Trump attacking him.
I watched Jeff Flake give a sweet speech on the Senate floor calling for "both sides" to treat Kavanaugh and Ford like human beings.
From what I see folks the fix is in, the M$M. including msnbc, is pushing the reich wing narrative. Kavanaugh doesn't know any of his accusers. This is a con game being perpetrated by Democrats to smear a good man.
Something has to change the narrative between now and Tuesday or we are going to have a monster seated on the Supreme Court.

This is a whole lot different than categorically denying everything that he's done since Dr Ford's allegations became public.
IMHO, it's only a matter of time before he confesses to everything.
