Vladimir Putin's top legal advisor killed in mystery helicopter crash
Source: Mirror
One of Russias top legal officials who frequently spearheaded Vladimir Putins criticisms of Britain has been killed in a mystery helicopter crash.
A shocking video showing burning debris of the stricken AS-350 in Kostroma region northeast of Moscow has been released by Russian law enforcement officials.
Among the three confirmed dead was 58 year old deputy Russian prosecutor general Saak Karapetyan, a vitriolic critic of Britain over the Sergei Skripal case and other disputes.
He was in overall charge of Russian criminal cases into the Skripal poisoning, as well as the deaths of Vladimir Putin foe Boris Berezovsky, and the London poisoning with polonium-201 of dissident Alexander Litvinenko.

(15,716 posts)A Russian official accused of directing the foreign operations of Natalia Veselnitskaya, the lawyer who met senior Trump campaign officials in 2016, has plummeted to his death in a helicopter crash.
Russian Deputy Attorney General Saak Albertovich Karapetyan was exposed in a Swiss court this year for a plot to enlist another nations law-enforcement official as a double-agent for the Kremlin.
Media reports in Russia say he died Wednesday night when his helicopter crashed into a forest during an unauthorized flight in the Kostroma region, northeast of Moscow.
Karapetyan, 58, was intimately familiar with some of the most notorious operations carried out under the orders of Vladimir Putin. He worked closely with Veselnitskaya as well as running some of Moscows most high-profile efforts to thwart international investigations into Russias alleged crimes.

(53,784 posts)small aircraft crashes, street shootings in the shadow of the Kremlin, found with hands bound in the trunk of cars in auto crashes, plutonium poisonings...you know, totally believable causes of deaths.
If I was associated with trump and the collusion I'd totally be trying to disappear in witness protection with Mueller.

It is difficult for me to determine if the Brits or Russians engineered his demise for propaganda value.

(15,716 posts)Britain has routinely given asylum to criminals, who got extremely rich in Russia and fled with their ill-gotten money, Moscow said. PM Theresa May was personally responsible for shielding many of them from Russian justice.
Russias Prosecutor Generals office on Monday accused London of harboring dozens of wealthy criminals. Over a period of 15 years, Moscow asked Britain to extradite 83 people for prosecution in Russia, Saak Karapetyan, a senior prosecutor responsible for Russias legal cooperation with law enforcement in other nations, told journalists. Of those requests, 72 targeted people accused of financial crimes that have proven damages totaling around 500 billion rubles ($8.4 billion at the current exchange rate).
The actual damage caused by those individuals is likely to be much higher, the official said. The stated sum is what the Russian prosecution has evidence to confirm. Its just the tip of the iceberg, Karapetyan said.
London has so far denied requests for 60 people from the extradition list, the prosecutor said. Of those, 55 were shielded by the British government by giving them refugee status or political asylum. When denying extradition, London claimed those individuals rights may be violated in Russia. Karapetyan said that apparently there was a well-established mechanism in London that allowed rich Russian criminals to park their capital in London by claiming to be victims of political persecution.

(5,754 posts)So is Trump afraid of Putin? Trump would always get into helicopters, right? A food taster, or ordering from McDonald's won't help there. What does Putin want that Trump hasn't done?
