It's tragic that the right move might cost her electorally. JHan Oct 2018 #2
Actually, I heard speculation that a yes vote would almost certainly solidify her loss. liberalnarb Oct 2018 #4
I agree. Deplorables will never vote for her. At least she will get out her base. lagomorph777 Oct 2018 #7

This vote will energize her base. She may still lose in the end, but she will maximize her possible votes, which is her only chance. If she voted "yes", she would have fractured her base and received no base Trump votes, anyway.

Good choice.

Even if she loses this race (apparently inevitable anyway), she did the only thing possible, to have a career in the future.

At least she will lose with her head held high.

I think that several voted against the ACA and still lost.

and she needs every single one of them she can get. She's never going to out conservative her Republican opponent.

That Senate seat was a already a lose anyway. McCaskill's seat is trending towards her Republican opponent in Missouri now and Donnelly's is almost even in Indiana. It's crazy to think the Republicans may actually come through this picking up a couple of Senate seats. Several articles today about how all this seems to be energizing the Republican base.

I don't agree with her on everything but she is showing great political courage. The politically expedient thing would have been to vote yes. Good for her.

interviewed Heidi Heitkamp's brother in a phone interview and was asked about the polls.
He said as they traveled across the state and the reception didn't represent the polls and didn't believe she was that far behind.

Katie would not allow him to get away and kept asking him well what about this and that..she in a way and in her way tried to condemn Heidi for he NO vote

He said that the polls don't show the real people in his state. He said that they will remember Kavanaugh for a week. What he sees is that the farmers are pissed off over the sanctions/trade war and the preexisting conditions with the ACA. I hope he is right.

Chip in a few bucks to her campaign.

It would be cool if there was a surge of campaign dollars resulting from her stance.
