Source: Denver Post
The senator wants to finish reading the FBI report before making a decision, spokesman Casey Contres said.
Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado, hasnt decided how hell vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trumps Supreme Court nominee who has faced sexual assault allegations, Gardners office said late Thursday.
The senator wants to finish reading the FBI report before making a decision, spokesman Casey Contres said. Gardner said hed vote yes on Kavanaughs confirmation after meeting with the judge in July. However, that was before several women accused him of sexual misconduct.
The only physical copies of the FBIs 46-page report on the allegations, completed Thursday, are being kept in a secure room inside the Capitol. Only senators and 10 committee staffers are allowed to read it.

(6,709 posts)Westerners and Coloradans in general have an anti-government, libertarian streak (as opposed to an anti-abortion evangelical streak). The abortion thing would work (not in the headlines of late, but very much an issue) against him here imo: we don't like the gubmint effing with our choices even more than we don't like the "murder of babies" (C. Springs excepted). Also we effing hate spoiled entitled frat boys. Plenty of us behave badly but we don't tend to whine about it after.
Just my take.

(37,648 posts)Cory Gardner and Ted Cruz are identical with how often they vote along with Trump's agenda. 90.9%. More than John McCain did. More than Lindsey Graham or Susan Collins.
So he's a "yes."

(481 posts)Colorado went to Clinton by 5 points in 2016 so I would expect he is afraid of the political cost in the future. Though I won't hold my breath he is voting for Kavanaugh. This is just his media attention moment.

(15,805 posts)after he was elected to the House, he came to town to open his local office. I was in the crowd, and as he shook my hand I asked him why he had co-sponsored Todd Akin's bill to redefine rape. He stared at me and said that should be a private conversation, to which I responded that his remarks on the legislation were not made in private. He yanked his hand away and told me to make an appointment. His local office manager ran interference with every attempt to make an appointment, and I tried at least once a month for nearly a year; no appointment ever happened, no phone call was ever returned, email brought a boiler plate response to some other question, snail mail was never acknowledged. So, yeah, it makes me a bit nuts that he gets to vote on a guy who'd be a marvelous case study for the redefine rape camp.

(1,652 posts)I bet Republican senators who meet with sexual assault survivors followed by reading the FBI report take 5 more seconds to vote to confirm than those who only read the FBI report.
