Brazil candidate accused of spreading fake news stories

SAO PAULO (AP) — Charges of fake news are heating up the presidential race ahead of Brazil's Oct. 28 runoff, with the center-left candidate on Tuesday accusing his rival's campaign of defaming him with false stories on social media and messaging apps.

A fact-checking group said that Fernando Haddad has been targeted by a wave of false allegations, some accusing him of planning to shut down churches and distribute textbooks teaching children to be gay.

Haddad blamed his adversary, far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro, for planting or failing to condemn the falsehoods.

"The lies come from him (Bolsonaro), so he will not accept any ethical commitment. He will continue to slander, insult," Haddad said. He said his campaign had managed to have 33 videos removed from social media sites. "One had 3 million views when it was removed. We try to stop it, but people watch them."

For those unfamiliar with the controversy, this is some of the footage from that has raised suspicions as to the veracity of the incident:

Look at the red circle. A miracle! No blood on the shirt.

Look carefully at 0:08. The weapon (looks like a plastic retractable prop knife) comes out pristine - with nary a drop of blood. Another miracle!

That, plus the fact that hey reported that the assailant had frequented the same shooting range as Bolsonaro's two sons.

We'll probably never know exactly what happened - as so often happens in history. But luckily, these days almost everyone has a smartphone.

This clown has the support of the entire military and the fascists who have slow rolled another coup on the country through deep, filthy deceit.

They won't be able to cover this up forever, sooner or later everyone in the world is going to be completely familiar with all the details. Their only hope is that they can slide Bolsonaro's women/P.O.C.,/gay/leftists-hating backside into the President's chair first.

He won by 10%, so it's very likely that he might have lost had not been for that "incident" - which as you can imagine, just dominated Brazilian news in the run-up to the election.

10. Looking for the most dramatic moment, and the right person to frame, and perfect actors

around the Orange Idiot to make it appear life-like.

Probably would have to happen immediately after some revelation that would otherwise cripple him, like the incident with him boasting how he could physically assault women and get away with it due to his great importance, was immediately followed by Comey's announcement they had found Hillary's e-mails on Anthony Weiner's computer.

The timing would serve several purposes at the same time, including whipping up sympathy support for Cheeto, and overshadowing a damning revelation threatening to bring him down, to redirect national attention. They are so slimy. Nothing is done innocently among any of them.

11. The GOPee is very good at electorally-timed false flags

Some that stand out as suspicious incidents are the bombing of the USS Cole (October 12, 2000), and the bin Laden message of October 29, 2004 - which they edited to leave out the part where he gloats about the military quagmire Bush had pushed the U.S. into.

There's no public proof Cheney had a hand in either, of course, and there probably never will be. Could they have been coincidental? Sure.

But to paraphrase Malcom Nance: Coincidences that big, take a lot of planning.

2. Brazil's Bolsonaro denies ties to strategist Steve Bannon

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro said Thursday his campaign has no ties to former White House strategist Steve Bannon, contradicting claims by one of Bolsonaro's sons.

In August, the Brazilian magazine Epoca quoted Eduardo Bolsonaro as saying Bannon "had put himself at our disposal to help."

In the interview, Bolsonaro said the help would not be financial, but rather "internet tips, sometimes an analysis, interpreting data, those kinds of things."

Also in August, Eduardo posted on Instagram a picture of himself with Bannon. The caption said that the two had met and that Bannon was an "enthusiast" of his father's candidacy and they would "unite forces against cultural Marxism."

The two contenders in Brazil’s bitterly contested presidential race have urged calm after a wave of attacks on journalists, activists and members of the LGBT community by supporters of far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro including beatings, a knife attack and a murder.

Supporters of the former paratrooper – himself the victim of an assassination attempt last month – have also reportedly been targeted with violence.

But an investigation by independent journalism group Agência Publica found that an overwhelming majority of the violence was committed by supporters of Bolsonaro, who polls give a 16-point lead over his leftist opponent, Fernando Haddad, ahead of the second-round runoff on 28 October.

Agência Pública said bolsonaristas were behind 50 separate attacks since 30 September. In the same period, six Bolsonaro supporters were assaulted, the report found.
