Trump Defends Charges He’s Encouraged Violence, Says Eric Holder ‘Better Be Careful What He’s Wishing For’

by Joe DePaolo | Oct 11th, 2018, 8:43 am

-snip-

In a phone interview with Fox & Friends Thursday, the president made his remark after video of Holder’s comment was played. “He better be careful what he’s wishing for,” Trump said. “That I can tell you. He better be careful for what he’s wishing for. That’s a disgusting statement for him to make.”

Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy asked Trump what he meant. The president didn’t elaborate much further — only launching into a general defense against charges he encouraged violence at rallies.

“For him to make a statement like that is a very dangerous statement,” Trump said. “You know, they talk about us. We are exactly the opposite. The rallies where they send people — I heard somebody yesterday, on your show actually, talking about my rallies — and my rallies are really calm, and well-run, and packed with people. We don’t have problems at our rallies.

“But they used to send in — they don’t do it anymore, they haven’t, maybe they’ll try starting again — but they used to send in protesters, paid protesters. The Democrats, and [George] Soros, and they came from all over. And we’d have protesters. And, I would say this, that it wasn’t so successful for those protesters. But they have to be careful with the rhetoric because it is very dangerous what Holder says.”

By crafting the dialogue about our side threatening to actually kick them (as opposed to the metaphorical use Holder meant) they are fomenting a violent reaction from their “supremacists,” and actually offering a case for legitimacy of violence. The *resident was right on point with that dog whistle here.

We need to be more careful, IMO, with not serving them up cover like this. We can be tough as nails without implied violent imagery.

violence on his behalf, at his behest himself. That was a threat.

Make no mistake everyone, he/they intend to dominate us, force our submission to their control, and will resort to physical suppression if necessary. These comments are being spouted at an increasing rate and with greater clarity the past few weeks especially. Trump and the GOP thugs are laying the groundwork for Marshall Law. They are intentionally agitating revolt on our part so they can do so and squash it forcefully. Don’t underestimate what may well be going on here!

ignorant voters (his base). When you read what he says, it's like cotton candy, there really isn't anything of substance, just his 'be careful etc' crap.

They are not in touch with reality. They get their news from hate radio, Fox, & alt-right sites. They are mostly male, but all of them are white, (my family members who are trumpers) & none of them thinks they're racist. But I know that's where this is coming from. A resentment that "white" as the default, & "male" as the default, is being challenged. They are angry that their place in the hierarchy, where white men conveniently placed themselves at the top, is at risk. The religious one is especially bad. So full of hate against liberals & the left. I had to unfriend him.

I have a right-wing military uncle, an evangelical aunt, and a racist grandfather. All are educated and well read but the common thread is that all three watch Fox News 24/7. I honestly believe that propaganda network causes much of the the disinformation and division in this country.
