Last year, Brian Kemp, Georgia's secretary of state canceled the registrations of over half a million Georgians because they left the state or moved to another county. Except they didn't. The nation's top experts in address location reviewed Kemp's list of purged voters -- and returned the names and addresses of 340,134 who never moved at all.
John Lenser, CEO of CohereOne of San Rafael, California, led the team analyzing the purge list. He concluded, "340,000 of those voters remained at their original address. They should have never been removed from the voter registration rolls."

The experts ran the names through an "advanced address hygiene process," that is, digging through dozens -- up to 200 -- dynamically updated databases (such as cell phone bills and tax filings), as well as limited-access files at the post office, to get the location of voters. They accomplished this with astonishing accuracy -- something the state of Georgia should have done.
The result: GregPalast.com has a list of 340,134 voters who never moved an inch. Kemp has sent them no notice -- none -- but they have lost their right to vote.

(20,692 posts)If you are on the list, contact us
AND check your registration IMMEDIATELY!
If your registration is active GREAT.
If youre not registered, you should absolutely re-register right now.
Although this wont allow you to vote in November, it will ensure that you will be able to vote in 2020.
We cannot expose the practice of mass cancellation of voting rights in Georgia without your help. Know anyone in Georgia?
Georgians are chasing their tails. What's stopping them from constantly removing voters on a revolving basis????

(6,931 posts)I saw that in action in Kansas in the primary against KKKobach and Gov Coyler. The vote count was extremely close so they decided to break out all the provisional ballots they had NEVER counted.
If one or the other candidate would have been up by 10,000 votes or so those provisional ballots would have NEVER been looked at.

(823 posts)They can't vote provisional or at all because they were completely deleted from the voter rolls. If they show up to vote they will be treated as if they were out of state unregistered voters and be denied their vote.

(31,828 posts)So they absolutely cannot vote on election day? What a kick in the teeth. I've really wanted Ms. Abrams to win. She's just sensational. And yet - not only does she get cheated - but so do the voters.

Generally, that'd be someone in a position of authority taking money ... in exchange for a benefit to the person who gave it to them.
Such as a corrupt prosecutor taking bribes from a Mob boss to reduce charges on one of their underlings who's been arrested, that sort of thing.

the only fix is to suspend the election. Those thousands of people who were purged should block the doors, chain themselves, to polling places.

(3,483 posts)penalties! NOTHING ELSE MATTERS AS MUCH, the will of the people trumps anything else, without guaranteed ACCURATE voting, we will never have the actual majorities needed to get everything else done.
Penalties must include MANDATORY Federal Prison sentences for anyone tampering with the vote!
Once that is secured, we can move ahead, but without it, we'll never actually achieve anything.

IF the voting was on the up and up in Georgia, Stacey Abrams would have a great chance to win the governorship. But with thuglican Kemp she's running against purging Dems off of voter rolls with perfect match, with him playing hide and go seek with Dem registrations/ballots, I don't think she can overcome all of that cheating. I mean, the over 850,000 voters have already been removed off of the voting rolls due to:
GEORGIAS USE IT OR LOSE IT VOTER PURGE FORCED MORE THAN 850,000 ELIGIBLE VOTERS OFF THE ROLLS.
https://www.letamericavote.org/news/blog/2018/georgias-use-it-or-lose-it-voter-purge-forced-more-than-850000-eligible-voters-off-the-rolls/
And Stacey's still hanging tough vs that racist, cheating pig, in Georgia. Okay, add those removed votes ☝🏻 (Mostly Dem/AA votes of course) plus the 107,000 THOUSAND Dem votes Kemp removed off of wherever, that's almost 1 million votes Kemp was able to get rid of, mostly for Stacey no doubt. He KNOWS he'd probably lose in a fair election. A few days ago a judge ordered Georgia officials (Kemp) to stop rejecting absentee ballots without letting voters fix them first so that they CAN be counted before Nov. 6th.
Lord have mercy, that racist, cheating, thuglican Kemp has something else up his crooked sleeve before Nov. 6th🙄

I finished my yearly ethics training yesterday for the State of Louisiana (I'm a prof. at a state univ.) and I was amazed to once again realized what crooked politicians like Trump, Kemp, and Kobach, get away with.
These are state and federal laws. Why are they only applied to the middle and lower rank of government officials and employees?
Is it dependent on the power of the crook? If so state and federal prosecutors are responsible for this criminality to become the norm for the strongest, especially Republicans. (When did we last see, after Chicago's Mayor Richard J. Daily of the 50's through 70's. such obvious corruption and illegality?)

(1,076 posts)Abuse of power can be for any number of purposes. To me, it is a white collar crime.
Anyone abusing a circumstance or to stack the deck in favor of the abuser/corporation should spend time in prison.
We had challenges back in 2007 and 2008. There were abuses and losers as a result poor judgement.
Iceland had a similar problem. The leaders (white collars) of those bank have gone to jail. I don't remember about fines in Iceland.
I don't think our white collar criminals went to jail. My point, is anyone abusing their elected/appointed power should go to jail. No bargaining.
