Suspect charged with federal crimes in mail bombings to Dems

Source: The Hill

A Florida man with a lengthy criminal history was charged Friday with sending explosive devices to high-profile Democrats who have sparred with President Trump, a major break in a case that has gained national attention and stoked political divisions ahead of the midterm elections.

The arrest of Cesar Sayoc Jr. came hours after more devices were discovered in three different states, pushing the total found by law enforcement to 13. None of the devices have exploded, but the saga has put officials on alert about the threat of violence connected to the political season.

Sayoc, who was apprehended in Aventura, Fla., was charged with interstate transportation of an explosive, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against former presidents and certain other persons, threatening interstate communication and assaulting federal officers. If convicted, Sayoc would face up to 58 years in prison.

My understanding is that these are essentially "holding" charges while they investigate the Domestic Terrorism angle.

Anyone with an R got a peep to offer? Didn't think so. Anyone with an R condemn it publicly? Waiting. Hard to miss...even for the Base Base. Probably, approval ratings will go up. I mean...with Trump/Pence front and center on the moving billboard...as well as CNN Sucks...the Inciter In Chief can't totally wash this greasy slime off. He'll try...it won't work.

Watched Ali Velshi on MSNBC;

The Orange Clown May have known about the MAGAbomber arrest on the evening of October 25th and withheld the information to politicize for the Midterms.

Now CBS Evening News mentioned that the MAGAbomber was radicalized.

2 days earlier, Dean Obeidallah on SiriusXM Progress, said that Trump is radicalizing his supporters just like how a terrorist group recruits.

10. WaPo, "Man in Florida arrested, charged in connection with mail bombs sent to public figures"

A lone fingerprint and a set of misspellings helped point FBI agents to a Florida man with a long criminal record now charged with mailing homemade bombs to prominent critics of President Trump — a politically charged case that has roiled the run-up to next month’s congressional elections.

Cesar Sayoc, 56, a former pizza deliveryman, strip-club worker and virulently partisan supporter of the president, was arrested Friday and charged with a string of crimes in connection with the homemade pipe bombs sent this week to former president Barack Obama, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and others.

He was formally charged with sending 13 such devices, and a law enforcement official said he is likely to be charged with sending a 14th device to Tom Steyer, a major Democratic donor. That package was intercepted in California, officials said.

The manhunt began Monday afternoon, when a pipe bomb was found inside a package delivered to billionaire activist George Soros, and ended less than 96 hours later with Sayoc’s arrest outside an auto supply store in Plantation, Fla. Sayoc, who lives in nearby Aventura, was arrested near his vehicle: a white van festooned with political declarations echoing Trump rhetoric.
