DNC chair dismisses economic growth under Trump: 'They have delivered results for very wealthy people'
BY MICHAEL BURKE - 11/04/18 10:12 AM EST
Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez on Sunday dismissed the growth of the American economy under President Trump, arguing that Trump's policies have disproportionately benefited wealthy individuals rather than everyday Americans.
Perez said on CNN's "State of the Union" that real wage growth is down and that "too many people are working two or three jobs to make ends meet."
"People need to feel that if they work a full-time job, theyre actually able to feed their family and not tread water. And thats whats happening across this country. Too many people are working two or three jobs to make ends meet because their salaries arent enough and the cost of living is going through the roof," Perez said.

DNC chairman: Health care is 'under attack' ahead of midterms
BY MICHAEL BURKE - 11/04/18 10:21 AM EST
Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez on Sunday said that "health care is under attack" from President Trump and the GOP, calling it the top issue ahead of this week's midterm elections.
Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," Perez made a closing pitch to voters two days ahead of the midterms, saying that health care will be "on the ballot" on Tuesday.
Health care is under attack. Thats the number one issue in this election, is health care. Because they want to do away with coverage for people for preexisting conditions. Thats why so many Americans have angst," he said.
So many people with preexisting conditions thought they would be able to retain their coverage. This administration doesnt want to do it. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, theyre on the ballot. Thats why theres so much energy on the Democratic side," Perez added during the interview.

(57,613 posts)When he was Secretary of Labor, from 2013 through 2017, he cheered every increase in the job force and drop in the unemployment rate.
He ought to be pointing out that last Friday's positive report was but one in a long series of positive reports that began in Spring 2009, and that it was the continuation of a trend that has been in place for nine years.
Did something change?

(9,350 posts)Jake Tapper kept saying that wage growth was the best since 2009, but who was in office in 2009? Barack Obama. Also, it should be asked why are wages going up. It is very possible that wages are not going up as a result of Donald Trump, but because of efforts at local and state levels. How many states and cities have made the decision to increase their minimum wage? What Donald Trump policy has helped to bring about wage increases? Did the tax cuts really bring about wages increases? How many of the individuals who got wage increases after the tax cuts got those wage increases due to being in unions that negotiated wages increases for them?
