NBC News Exit Poll: Majority of voters don't think Trump should be impeached
Source: NBC News
A majority of voters today do not think President Donald Trump should be impeached, according to NBC News Exit Poll results. Fifty-four percent of voters say Congress should not impeach Trump, while 41 percent say Congress should do so.
But the idea of impeaching Trump finds strong support among Democrats. Among voters in todays midterm elections, about eight in 10 Democrats say that Trump should be impeached and removed from office. A majority of independent voters are opposed to impeachment; not surprisingly, so are almost all Republicans.

I will be telling every successful candidate I supported that, absent criminal evidence from Mueller, they should drop this issue completely.

(2,648 posts)It would serve no purpose to impeach the idiot child. He would never be removed from office.......too many ignorant or just plain stupid republicans in the Senate for that to happen.
But jail, taking all his money away from him and his criminal family works for me! That would have my vote!

(7,142 posts)Trump has done more in 2 years to deserve impeachment than any president in our history. The fact that the Senate is complicit with Trump and will not convict is their problem not the House's.
Now add to all that we know about Trump the Mueller report and Hell yes impeach. It will certainly change the right wing narrative that pervades our corporate controlled M$M. Shine the light on those cockroaches, day after day pound them with the Trump crime family corruption. It will open the eyes of people who are not paying attention to the Trump/Republican party corruption.
Jesus again, if the argument for not impeaching isn't that it isn't warranted but that Trump will run for president in 2020 on some kind of corrupt agenda that Democrats are not letting him destroy our democracy, then for God's sake let him run on fascism. I for one have zero appetite to cater to a crook, to a traitor in the White House.

(92,204 posts)investigate illegal activities from the 2016 election. That report will provide the ammunition/evidence for not only impeachment, but more importantly indictment if illegal activities are found.
At the same time it does not prevent the House from investigating corruption and illegal activities within this administration. In fact that is their duty.
No one knows what Mueller has. There are suspicions, but until that report is released you don't jump the gun and start impeachment proceedings. The same thing applies to any House investigations. The republicans in the House having been covering up for the trump administration. That has ended with the Democrats controlling the House. You gather the evidence first. Not only does that make it more likely that impeachment and removal will be successful, but more importantly if illegal activity is found, indictment.
It also opens the door to how the VP may have been involved, and if both the President and the Vice President are removed, the next in line would be the Speaker of the House.

(22,913 posts)We don't need, nor is it wise, for us to get ahead of this one. We should go where the hard evidence leads us, and that means waiting for the Mueller probe to present a case compelling enough to move forward on. Lacking that, we can't remove Trump from power in the Senate so we need to do what we can to position Democrats best to defeat him at the polls in 2020.
