Democrats Make Big Gains In General Assembly And Capture State Senate And Increase Majority In House
Source: Hartford Courant
With Democrat Ned Lamont winning the race for governor, Democrats also captured a stunning victory in legislative races, seizing a solid majority in the state Senate and potentially increasing their majority in the state House by a dozen seats, unofficial election results showed Wednesday.
The results fueled a growing rout for Republicans in Connecticut, with Democrats winning or leading virtually all statewide races.
In the state Senate, Democrats took control of the 36-seat chamber, with at least 21 wins in Tuesdays election and the potential for up to another three seats in races that were still too close to call Wednesday morning. The unofficial results break the historic 18-18 tie that has existed for the past two years.
Democrats also could pick up as many as 12 seats in the 151-seat state House, giving them a commanding 92-to-59 majority. But one or two of the races could face recounts, including in the 30th House District where incumbent Democrat Joe Aresimowicz, the Speaker of the House, is separated from his Republican challenger by just 37 votes.

(23,418 posts)Im glad about my state California as well. At least a 43-10 margin for Democrats in the House. I suspect Harder may win to push that to 44-9. And the crypto-Republican running for insurance commissioner as in independent is losing as well, for a sweep of atate offices.
