Tensions rising between Mueller, Manafort over level of cooperation: Sources

Source: abc news

Talks between Special Counsel Robert Mueller and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort have grown increasingly tense over Manafort's apparent lack of cooperation with the investigation, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Prosecutors from Mueller's office have been asking Manafort about a wide range of topics in nearly a dozen meetings since Manafort agreed to cooperate in September, sources said, but the Mueller team is "not getting what they want," said one source with knowledge of the discussions.

The consequences of failing to fully cooperate could be dire when it comes time for Manafort to be sentenced.

"Should it be judged...that the defendant has failed to cooperate fully, has intentionally given false, misleading or incomplete information or testimony...the defendant will not be released from his pleas of guilty but the Government will be released from its obligations..." his plea agreement reads.

Manafort appears to be walking on thin ice with Mueller's team, not really surprised here, he probably thought he could get away with minimal cooperation but he may end up regretting his decision.

Maybe the deal to cooperate was just an attempt for him and his legal team to get more information on what Mueller's investigation looks like from an internal perspective, and share it with Trump's advisers, but I would guess that this will come back to haunt Manafort one way or another

Manafort has no bargaining power. He's been in jail for months and will be there for years.

Mueller has the power to lessen his stay if he cooperates and he is refusing.

Not smart. WTF is he thinking?

And yes, there are state charges that could be leveled in response.

But he's no doubt been told that Cheeto's planning to short-circuit any and all limits to his pardon powers.

double jeopardy. Manafort is betting on some long shots here, but we have seen some real game changing actions from the Trumpsters already. These people have no consciences.

no one knows what Mueller has or what his plans are. I'm betting on Mueller, if Manafort is betting on Trump he's going to die in prison.

It looks like Cohen is smarter than Manafort, it looks like Cohen bet on Mueller.

He's looking at the DC charges plus the 8 charges the jury was hung on. That's a LOT of prison time. He's going down anyway, but his only shot at reducing the sentence(s) is to cooperate fully. Fully in this case means answering every single question he's asked, fully and completely. Oh, and he can't lie.

they are used to getting away with it. Pulling strings, buying people’s silence, using bullying and intimidation tactics, making threats, tying people up in court, lying, lying, and more lying. Every sort of two-step tap-dance or fancy maneuvering, every imaginable delay tactic, every kind of baloney-slinging, and always getting away with it. At least up til now.

They don’t win by running on the issues that people genuinely care about. They win only by lies, distortion, fear, and CHEATING.

THAT’S how they “win.”

If not, fuck him. I know it would be nice to have a wall of evidence but there is already a wall of evidence and several others that have flipped. We need to get this show on the road now that the House is turning blue and we don't need Manafort screwing around with the Feds to try to protect drumpf.

Pull the deal, and let him rot in a cell for the rest of his miserable treasonous life.
