Trump touts falling oil prices: 'Way to go president T'

Source: The Hill

President Trump thanked himself for falling oil prices in a tweet Sunday.

Trump likened the recent drop in oil prices to "a big Tax Cut."

"So great that oil prices are falling (thank you President T)," the president wrote. "Add that, which is like a big Tax Cut, to our other good Economic news. Inflation down (are you listening Fed)!"

There's less than $2 trillion of actually USD currency floating around, and maybe about $12 trillion in USD that exists on ledgers that are no more or less real than a bitcoin ledger. Most of our currency is "virtual" today, and our use of cash is declining. Denmark is currently looking at eliminating cash and going to 100% virtual currency, though that idea is getting some popular pushback.

I'd make a pretty clear distinction between _virtual_ currency (which we use today) and _crypto_ currency (of which Bitcoin is one example).

Bitcoin is difficult to use, and I think that's one of the main points against it, but I'd argue that it's much less easily hacked than your average bank account (though when your bank account is hacked, your bank can "restore" your money, whereas if your bitcoin wallet is emptied, it's much the same as having your physical wallet emptied - there's no authority who will give it back).

I always say that Amazon could issue Amazon coin and it would actually be backed by stuff you can buy on Amazon! How exciting - a coin with real value since Amazon has good credit!!!

Of course, Amazon does this already. They are called gift cards.

which still employs 150K and hundreds of thousands more in related businesses. We would be better off, as a country and a planet, if the price of oil stabilized at higher price.

The price per barrel was $45 in November 2016. It shot up to $53 by his inaugruation. Did he take credit for that too? Does Obama get to take credit when it was $26 in Feb of 2016? Besides, what about his buddy Putin? Falling oil prices are really bad for Russia.

In general, crude oil and gasoline RBOB (Reformulated Blendstock for Oxygen Blending) aka Unleaded Gas tend to rise during the spring, reach their peak during the summer, then decline in the fall/winter months.
