Pelosi cuts deal with Problem Solvers on House rules overhaul
Source: The Hill
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has cut a deal with a small group of Democrats calling for major rules changes next year, according to two Democratic sources familiar with the discussions.
Its a done deal, said one aide.
Nine Democrats in the bipartisan, 48-member Problem Solvers Caucus had vowed to withhold their support for Pelosi or any other Speaker nominee unless the candidate commits, in writing, to certain changes in House rules aimed at empowering rank-and-file lawmakers and breaking partisan gridlock.
Unveiled earlier in the year, the groups rules package consists of 10 proposals designed to ease the passage of popular bipartisan bills that, in recent years, have frequently been ignored.

Just a Weirdo
(488 posts)That would be a big fucking mistake, and a reason not to vote for Pelosi as a Speaker.

(1,414 posts)Given the size of the democratic victory in the House there is ZERO reason to concede one inch of ground to "BIPARTISANSHIP". Bipartisanship with post-Obama republicans is a farce. Republicans give nothing and democrats give up the farm. I will be curious to see how Nancy manages this. I have called for the replacement of Nancy in the past, but her strategy won, so I support her Speakership. However, the notion of bipartisanship with those nazis is incomprehensible. How much better it is to die standing than to live bowing.
