Ivanka Trump is reportedly under consideration to lead The World Bank

ivanka trump People have been speculating that Ivanka Trump may be nominated to be the next leader of The World Bank. Evan Vucci/AP

Ivanka Trump is one of the names being considered to replace The World Bank's outgoing president, Jim Yong Kim, the Financial Times reported Friday.
Before joining the White House, she worked as a vice president of acquisitions at the Trump Organization.
She also directed her own fashion line, the Ivanka Trump brand, which was shuttered last summer.
President Donald Trump also floated Ivanka as a replacement for the outgoing US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, but ended up nominating State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert after concerns of nepotism were raised.

President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, who works as a White House adviser, is one of the names being considered as a replacement for The World Bank's outgoing president, Jim Yong Kim, the Financial Times reported Friday.

The DC-based World Bank, founded after World War II to finance economic-development projects in emerging economies, has traditionally been led by an American. Kim's sudden departure from the bank came as a surprise to employees and leaves the bank's future uncertain.

The Trump administration, which has been wary of and even hostile toward Western-led international institutions like the World Bank, will now be tasked with submitting a recommendation to the bank's board. .............................

And the US is a member of the World Bank —in fact the US is the largest shareholder in the World Bank, which is why the president of the Bank has always been an American.

From Slate. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/01/jim-yong-kim-world-bank-trump.html

The bank is owned by the world’s governments, with voting shares on its board largely determined by the amount of money they’ve pledged to the institution’s lending arms. Nigeria controls 0.7 percent of the votes, for example, while China has a 4.5 percent share and the U.S. has 16 percent. Officially, World Bank presidential candidates are nominated by board members, and whichever candidate gets the majority of the votes is the winner.

In reality, the U.S. nominee has always been selected, thanks in part to a deal with European shareholders that the U.S. will back the European candidate for the head of the International Monetary Fund if the Europeans back the U.S. candidate for the World Bank. ......

Europe could conceivably end their cooperation with the US in this matter and leave Ivanka out in the cold.

to send whatever money and land and buildings she can over to the Trump Organization? Or hire other relatives and big donors to serve as executives and agents to implement her plans.

I hope the World Bank stands up to him.

The former head of the WTO leaving suddenly gives me Justice Kennedy redux feelings. I wonder if Trump arranged this? A little money in the pocket of someone does wonders to get what you want.

What has happened with Trump, the President, is that The Trump Organization, headed by Trump, has taken over America, and is now beginning to take over international organizations. The Big Kahuna of mobster gangs.

Several months ago I predicted that The Donald would force Spence to retire and give him a lifetime job as a Federal Judge and appoint Ivanka as Veep. My thinking was that would give him more protection from criminal charges or impeachment. If he thought that criminal charges or impeachment was inevitable and imminent, he would resign for "health reasons" and he could brag about all his accomplishments as President including creating the first female President of the US. It would also insure that his legacy and "Trump Brand" would extend into the foreseeable future.
But I think the flaw in that theory is that Ivanka would have to be approved by the Congress. But if Trump can survive in office until the 2020 election and run on a ticket with Ivanka as his VP and win the election the same principles would apply. He would resign in all his glory and Ivanka would grant him a pardon just in case.
As much as we here on DU hate and mistrust Trump it could happen (remember no one thought he would win in 2016). We all need to not jut talk but get off our asses and work hard to make sure Trump doesn't do it again.
