Democrat withdraws from 1st District congressional race after allegations she voted in two states

Source: Baltimore Sun

Wendy Rosen, the Democratic challenger to Republican Rep. Andy Harris in the 1st Congressional District, withdrew from the race Monday amid allegations that she voted in elections in both Maryland and Florida in 2006 and 2008.

It was unclear, however, whether she could remove her name from the ballot with the election less than two months away. Under state law, a candidate has until 70 days before an election to remove his or her name from the ballot. The deadline for the Nov. 6 election passed on Aug. 28.

Democratic leaders — who raised the allegations, urged Rosen to step aside and notified prosecutors — said they would gather Central Committee members this month to identify a write-in candidate for the district, which includes the Eastern Shore and parts of Harford, Carroll, Cecil and Baltimore counties.

Blindingly stupid, and will allow conservatives to push the "voter fraud" issue again.

FWIW - this was a Solid R district and was never going to flip.

Thanks Wendy, for giving ammo to the enemy.

This doesn't change the fact that voter fraud is practically non-existent, but the thugs will surely grab this and run with it.

edit to add: I'm addressing the perp, not the OP.

although being someone who's being elected this would fall more in election fraud. but she's not like Mitt who retro actively decides he's in Mass. instead of Utah or Michigan or California..

It's the ones who can afford more than one home, in more than one state and I doubt that the identification laws they are imposing would prevent something like this from happening since she probably voted absentee in at least one of those locations. Still pretty stupid to do something like this.

but at least she was smart enough to step aside unlike Todd 'Legitimate Rape' Akin.

Then again I want Akin to stay in the race!

about eligibility to run for Gov. there based on LACK of domicile/residence, so Dems COULD raise this vis a vis Rosen, but not wise, imo; better for her to step aside.

Was in Chestertown this weekend. LOVELY. Stayed at OLDE hotel next door to repug Kent County headquarters office. (STEELED myself against doing damage to the place, which was closed most of the weekend.)

Saw bumper stickers and lawn signs in couple of blocks between hotel and the river, slightly highter % Obama than rmoney, so felt very comfortable there.
