Members of Congress may not want to go toe to toe against Trump's lies, not because they fear him but rather to appear impartial in case of impeachment. the problem is that Republicans are becoming immune to Trump's lies as they have been drinking the FoxNews koolaid even before Trump became president. BTW where are the DEATH PANELS? Yet the regular news media get's labeled as biased?
When someone says, "Russia are you listening?" The FBI and the entire Intel Apparatus of the United States need to listen as this sounds more like a THREAT to America than a mysterious caravan from the south.
But we have built up LIAR TOLERANCE in America. Folks remember Michelle Bachmann calling on Congress to launch an investigation of itself? She considered many in Congress to be UNAMERICAN. we tolerated that, birtherism and of course the lies about DEATH PANELS! This began even before Trump took office.
JUST IMAGINE IF OBAMA SIDED WITH KGB PUTIN OVER AMERICAN INTEL?
What would the "Patriots"?? at Foxnews say?
Yet Trump favors "his pal" Putin over our own intel community. instead of telling the FBI, DNI, CIA ect "Thank you for your service" he instead tells them "to go back to school"! I think it is time for the Democratic Party to appoint someone to up the rhetoric and attack Trump on each and every lie and to DEMAND the news media give this Rep equal time. Ideally it should be someone who is NOT running in 2020 for president. But to say this job should solely fall on the Intel community is a dereliction of duty by our elected representatives.
Trump will fall by two factors:
1. Robert Mueller is allowed to finish and his product is made available to the electorate.
2. Both houses of congress need to conduct PUBLIC exams as these differ in method from Robert Mueller. What is needed is the CONSTANT DRIP DRIP DRIP on daily TV of witnesses before Congressional committees. This WILL ERODE Trump's base in the GOP establishment. The FoxNews Koolaide crowd may still toe the line but who cares then. The Republican establishment and their rich donors will start to rein in FoxNews. Some like Shep Smith were attacking Trump's lies from the start.
I ask everyone DO NOT WATCH THE SOTU ADDRESS. I am fed up with MSNBC giving Trump so much coverage at his rallies. Then Trump whines that the news media is the "enemy of the people"?
The frog of democracy is dying from a slowly boiling pot of water. I respect Senator Schumer but we need an advocate for Democracy to call out the lies ON A DAILY BASIS WITH TESTOSTERONE. I applaud cable news now for getting some testosterone.
BUT CONSIDER THIS:
1. What happens if Russia tampers with our 2020 election and tilts the election (they most likely did already in 2016)?
2. What would happen if a new Trump was just as evil BUT not as stupid. Trump's stupidity is America's salvation.
When Trump falls - and he will do NOT be so optimistic that our system responded. No Trump is both evil AND stupid. The next Trump may simply be evil.
