Trump Declares National Emergency To Fund the Wall
Source: CNN
"So the order is signed. And I'll sign the final papers as soon as I get into the Oval Office. And we will have a national emergency," Trump said.
After he signs national emergency and executive action paperwork, Trump said, "We will then be sued," rattling off a possible chain of events, which included bad ruling in the 9th Circuit Court, which he has previously lamented.
"We will possibly get another bad ruling, and then well get another bad ruling, and then well end up in the Supreme Court," Trump said, comparing the process to challenges to his administration's travel ban.
"And then, hopefully, we'll get a fair shake."

The only reason he's doing this is so Sean Hannity and Ann Coutergeist, the two he most lives in fear of, will back off and say nice things about him.

(2,410 posts)Rommel (C-in-C in theater) told Hitler that The Atlantic Wall was too dug in, too rigid and would prevent him from shifting resources (tanks) to the places where they were needed, depending on where the Allied landing was heaviest.
This is exactly what border control agents believe about tRump's wall: they need more resources that can be quickly moved into place (including mobile x-ray trucks), not some megalith "target" wall that can be strategized against!
tRump is an idiot. Period.

(11,885 posts)After it passes in the House a stopping of this , to vote to stop it too, or face and even worse disaster and national emergency for their dying republican party after allowing this to happen. McConnell knows this too, so either way he's screwed, and if they resist in any way the American people will really be heading to the 2020 election pissed , and trump and them regretful for what they've done. Guess they didn't learn anything from the Mid terms results.

(26,299 posts)Trump but it will be prevent the least amount of damage to the Repugnant party as possible.
By that I mean he will have ones like Collins who are in deep shit over Kavanaugh vote to stop Trump and others will be the ones that just won re election as they are the least vulnerable but he wont do it for the good of the country he will do it because he knows the next Democrat will then use it to bypass Congress to enact programs the Repugnants will not like.

(26,299 posts)and institute a sweeping investigation over ever Senator and Congressman for graft and corruption and we all know that the odds favor the Repugnants at having the majority of corrupt in office.
I also want a national healthcare emergency so medicare for everyone can be added followed by a national living wage emergency and then to top it off a national tax increase on the wealthy and corporations emergency.
Mr. Frost
(75 posts)I feel the best way to do that is through Article V means. It will take a lot of campaigning to find reps to be elected into the states houses and senates who will strongly support such a measure.

(12 posts)People like you are still living in what we call the reality-based community. You believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that realityjudiciously, as you willwe'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.
Karl Rove was supposed to be credited with the quote but denied it.
my point is....unless Trump is stopped...when does he declare himself life president due to a national emergency? to me he has already crossed the Rubicon.....

(14,174 posts)And I think that Democrats still have not figured out how to battle this phenomenon. How to get ahead of it, and be the actors themselves. They are, way too many times, the reactors not the actors. It happens again and again, and lets not dismiss the MSM news networks that also fall into this trap.
This phenom results in Trump and his R's making the news every day, and D's whining about it after the fact. So by perception, it seems as though Trump is active and productive, and all D's can do is complain after the fact. And astonishingly, even though D's are the ones with all the ideas, all the suggestions for healthcare, minimum wages, maternity leave etc etc etc.....and R's only contribution to government is to quash any of those ideas, and have none of their own.....somehow it is perceived by many that Trump is working hard all the time.
And even now, we hear ruminations in the top Democratic circles about keeping impeachment 'off the table'. Frightened again about being the doers, the actors. The protagonists that lead the story. The same is true about this circle dismissing and even mocking the Green New Deal, and Medicare for All. The Democrats at the top still haven't understood that Americans respect bravado, and they hate wimps. Even if the wimps are right.

(12 posts)I also keep remembering what Franklin D. Roosevelt said,
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peacebusiness and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for meand I welcome their hatred.
here we are again !!!!
the Trumps and their enablers must go !!!!!
