Matt Gaetz deletes tweet about Michael Cohen, apologizes to Nancy Pelosi

Source: Pensacola News Journal

Update 7 a.m.: U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz deleted his tweet appearing to threaten the president's former personal attorney Michael Cohen ahead of his testimony to Congress.

Gaetz apologized to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Twitter just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night after the Democratic leader tweeted a statement implying Gaetz's tweet should be investigated by the House ethics committee.

"Speaker, I want to get the truth too," Gaetz said on Twitter. "While it is important 2 create context around the testimony of liars like Michael Cohen, it was NOT my intent to threaten, as some believe I did. I’m deleting the tweet & I should have chosen words that better showed my intent. I’m sorry."

right before their testimony to Congress. Need to take these people who feel like they are above the law and throw the book at them. Mouthing off does not pay, especially when made in the context of a threat.

He knew that. He said it. It's out there. The threat was made. Now he tries to nullify any action against him personally with an apology. It's an old trick.

That's simply not enough. He needs to be submitted to the ethics committee at the very least.

If they let his behavior slide then that is the behavior we will continue to see from the GOP.

Saying "I'm sorry" after the fact is not enough. The threat is out there and so are the allegations regarding Mr. Cohen's personal life. It is not a matter of word choice. He should have kept his mouth shut, period.

He attempted to obstruct justice, makes a fake apology, and walks away clean to do it whenever it suits him. People who are not held accountable for their bad behavior, never change it.

there was a senator(forgot his name) who would be at the hearing today who was questioned about Gaetz's threatening tweet,
He skirted condemning Gaetz and spinned it into emotions running high on both sides, yada, yada,

Then later we see the pompous, arrogant pos Gaetz enter where Cohen's testimony will take place, walk through the crowd over to the seated senator, they smile at each other and shake hands.
