Trump's New Attorney General Won't Recuse Himself in Mueller Probe
Source: Bloomberg
Attorney General William Barr said he wont recuse himself from being in charge of Special Counsel Robert Muellers investigation, a major development affecting the fate of the politically charged probe into President Donald Trump.
Following General Barrs confirmation, senior career ethics officials advised that General Barr should not recuse himself from the special counsels investigation. Consistent with that advice, General Barr has decided not to recuse, Kerri Kupec, a Justice Department spokeswoman.
Kupec confirmed that the office of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who intends to leave the department in the coming weeks, continues to be the primary liaison between the special counsel and Barr.
The question of whether Barr, who was confirmed as attorney general last month, should oversee Mueller has become a political flashpoint.

(37,648 posts)He was asked point blank, and he answered it directly. He would not recuse himself. Obviously. Because that's WHY he was being appointed...so that Trump would have an AG who wouldn't recuse himself.

(7,403 posts)When did they become "senior" - before Trump? Why the word "officials"? Were they not attorney's? This doesn't smell very independent. And why wasn't this determination made before the Senate confirmation hearing started rather than after he is sworn in. The whole process stinks.

(6,831 posts)We do NOT refer nor have we EVER addressed the Attorney General as "General _ _ _ _" THAT is a military rank. The AG is called Attorney General _ _ _ .
I worked in Federal Service for years. Does ANYONE in this administration know WTF they are talking about ?

(523 posts)The Mueller probe is, remember, ONLY about collusion with Russia. And the evidence of that is becoming so public and so extensive that the earth could swallow up Mueller and we'd still know that Trump is guilty.
It's all the other investigations - that don't involve Mueller - that are burying the Trump Presidency; bribery, fraud, obstruction of justice, self-dealing, etc. Some of these are being handled by state, not federal, authorities so that even the President cannot stop them.

Christie prosecuted Jareds father. Sent him to jail for fraud. He knows the whole corrupt gang and the trouble they are now in.
