The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, Disability Rights Wisconsin and Black Leaders Organizing for Communities, among others, brought the case. It argues that the so-called lame-duck laws, passed after the November election, are invalid because the Legislature supposedly didnt have the authority to convene when it passed them because its regular session had ended months earlier.
Among other things, the laws prevent the governor and attorney general from withdrawing from or settling lawsuits without the Legislatures permission, changing the makeup of Wisconsins economic development agency and suspending the governors authority to appoint the agencys CEO for nine months.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul decided not to participate in the case because of the departments perceived conflict of interest. The League of Women Voters case is one of several brought by various groups against the Republican laws. Liberal advocacy group One Wisconsin Now challenged the laws early-voting restrictions in federal court, and a U.S. District judge struck them down earlier this year.
Meanwhile, a group of five unions filed a suit in state court arguing the laws violate the separation of powers. Another lawsuit brought in federal court by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin challenges the laws by contending they violate the Constitutions free speech and equal protection guarantees..................................

This is of national interest-it is happening in other states such as NC--where Repug legislators pass laws in a lame duck session. damn.
Walker, who finally was NOT re-elected, signed all the vile lame duck bills before he left office.

The Senate and Assembly sent dozens of changes in state law to Gov. Scott Walkers desk Wednesday morning after an all-night marathon session that would reduce the power of incoming Democrats.

My take on this power grab by the neo nazi, White nationalists here is simple. They believe they are entitled to rule, fuck governing, they want a monarchy, with them king.
I hope that the judge in this case considers the timing on this power grab. The people of Wisconsin voted Walker out and Evers in. The monarchists then convened a special session to change the powers of governing agents, including the governor and attorney general. It was basically an attempt to kneecap them until the monarchists could regain power.
The people of Wisconsin voted for the governor and his attendant powers at the time, not for a hindered government. The monarchists changed the powers of certain government agencies when Walker was elected, probably thinking they would be in charge FOREVER. Surprise, that didnt work out so well.
If they had changed the powers the governor had BEFORE the election then maybe they would have an argument. But doing so after they lost....not so much. The people of Wisconsin voted for the governor they wanted with the powers as they stood at the time they voted...end of story.
