JEFFERSON CITY, MO (AP) — Missouri House lawmakers have passed legislation to allow public schools to offer elective social studies classes on the Bible.

The Republican-led House voted 95-52 to pass the bill Monday.

That is my question. I suppose they will use the one approved by a committee of faculty and parents. That may well be discriminatory.

Personally, I find the Iliad much more entertaining, but it too is full of religious content.

If they want their kids taught a bible course then go to a religious school.

So a gay or atheist person should be allowed to go to a religious school?

I know it's against the law to proselytize, but teaching the bible as literature has been legal for a long time. . .

Of course, given the fools who passed this legislation, SURELY they will want some kind of evangelical, hate-filled bent to the whole thing.

On Wednesdays, we were given the last hour of the school day where we could go to our church(es) for religious instruction. Attendance at the church was documented and sent to the school to prove we were where we were suppose to be. I don't think this is done anymore.

its symbology and "hidden" messages . To teach the literal meanings doesn't do it justice. So why bother?
