More than 10,000 riot police officers are being readied to tackle disorder on the streets of Britain sparked by Brexit.
They have prepared for potential riots, looting and disorder if there are long queues at ports or shortages to food, petrol and medicine.
Police had originally prepared for the UK to leave the European Union (EU) on 29 March, but now face the prospect of a no-deal Brexit in just over a weeks time.
Senior officers at the National Police Coordination Centre said the delay created fresh complexity in their operations, as well as an increasing risk of angry protests.

I think we may be in for a period of instability that will make the riots of 2011 look like a tea party. What ever happens now things are going to kick off. It is inevitable - the tensions and anger are too high. The country is too polarised.

(101,326 posts)I think there will be a lot of "bloody politicians" talk, whoever it's aimed at after we see what finally happens. And there'll be a lot of MPs losing their next elections. It's possible parties may break up. But I don't think those who are really angry are the rioting types - they're armchair reactionaries, often quite old.

(23,959 posts)our national credibility is shot. after Trump and Brexit wrap up, however they do, it will take decades for our treaties to mean shit again to the rest of the world. Putin has realigned the global power structure very much in his favor.
