Washington (CNN)White House senior adviser Stephen Miller wants to make sure that outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is only the first of a string of senior officials headed out the door, as he is given more authority over immigration policy.
The President has also pushed in recent weeks to reinstate the family separation policy, which Nielsen resisted, a source familiar with the discussions says. Trump rescinded that policy amid public outrage and scrutiny from the courts last summer.
Miller's heightened influence within the West Wing has been aided by the President, who recently told aides in an Oval Office meeting that Miller was in charge of all immigration and border related issues in the White House, according to a person familiar with the meeting.
Trump administration officials say that Miller, who played key a role in Nielsen's ouster, wants the President to dismiss the director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Lee Cissna, and the department's general counsel, John Mitnick. United States Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex" Alles, is also being removed from his position, multiple administration officials tell CNN.
"There is a near-systematic purge happening at the nation's second-largest national security agency," this official says.....................................

Trump got pissed off when Bannon was referred to as the actual or shadow president; maybe it'll help to put out the meme on social media that Miller is the acting president, and man-baby Trump will get cheesed off.

It's almost like they are bored, so firing people and interviewing others is something to pass the time.

(4,007 posts)Having seen in action state level bureaucrats (hey, they do serve a purpose) at 35+ states long ago, those who ran a tight ship and served their staffs and the people well could count on every single one to work hard for the taxpayer's money. Perhaps more importantly, a great esprit de corp among the troops meant the leader could expect them to move mountains to start or finish a task.
Now, think about how demoralizing the firing of Nielsen (Nazi that she is) and the SS guy is to those troops? Think for a minute the best workers under them are charged up a read for anything Miller or Trump throw at them. I think not!

(37,648 posts)What does being new mean to doing the tasks that the bosses give them? They either cage the kids, or they get fired. The system is in place already (the bad system that's worthless).
Demoralizing, yes. Why people keep accepting jobs working for Trump is baffling. It must really be a feather in the cap that pays off to say you worked for the W.H.
