Before Nielsen's abrupt resignation, hardline Trump adviser Stephen Miller was reportedly handed total control of border policy
Published 3:50 am PDT, Monday, April 8, 2019
Multiple reports indicate the White House adviser Stephen Miller has orchestrated a hardline shake-up of the Department of Homeland Security.
Kirstjen Nielsen announced her resignation as secretary of homeland security on Sunday, with President Donald Trump reportedly concerned that she had not taken tough enough stances.
US border and immigration policy is now said to be under the control of one of the most hardline anti-immigration members of the Trump administration, following the weekend's abrupt resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen............................

(108,978 posts)I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, an educated man who is well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our familys life in this country.
I shudder at the thought of what would have become of the Glossers had the same policies Stephen so coolly espouses the travel ban, the radical decrease in refugees, the separation of children from their parents, and even talk of limiting citizenship for legal immigrants been in effect when Wolf-Leib made his desperate bid for freedom. The Glossers came to the U.S. just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the America first nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees. Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family likely would have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him.
Like other immigrants, our familys welcome to the USA was not always a warm one, but we largely had the protection of the law, there was no state-sponsored violence against us, no kidnapping of our male children, and we enjoyed good relations with our neighbors. True, Jews were excluded from many occupations, couldnt buy homes in some towns, couldnt join certain organizations or attend certain schools or universities, but life was good. As in past generations, there were hate mongers who regarded the most recent groups of poor immigrants as scum, rapists, gangsters, drunks and terrorists, but largely the Glosser family was left alone to live our lives and build the American dream. Children were born, synagogues founded, and we thrived. This was the miracle of America.

Heinrich Himmler became the second-in-command of Nazi Germany following Göring's downfall after the repeated losses of the Luftwaffe which the Reichsmarshall commanded, as Supreme Commander of the Home Army and Reichsführer-SS. As commander of the Schutzstaffel (SS), Himmler also held overall command of the Gestapo.

We've heard from Stephen Miller's disgusted uncle, but not from other family members. How could they not be horrified? Was he the "exception" or the rule in his family household?

(32,639 posts)Stephen Miller will be fired in 6 months or less, I guarantee it. Everybody gets blamed for Chump's mistakes, because Chump will never accept blame himself. That's why the White house has a revolving door and that's why no thinking person would ever want to work for him.

(9,988 posts)I think Miller is safe because he is a despicable human being, and the more despicable the better according to Trump. The only way to undermine Millers position would be to have him start making comments critical of Trump or somehow discredit him by blaming him for any negative press about Trump. Ivanka and Jared are also fully supportive of all Millers disgusting ideas. Miller is the most repulsive in all of Trumps circle of deviants.

(11,909 posts)if people refer to him as #PresidentMiller, since he's calling the shots. As with Bannon being called president Bannon in the past, it pissed off Trump and may have helped lead to Bannon's departure.

(5,477 posts)tRump has reached deeply into the bottommost portion of the swamp and dragged this dangerous sycophant into his inner circle, giving him more power than anyone that has not been elected by the American People or been confirmed by the Senate should EVER hold in this country.
Miller is *so* bad that tRump can only look up to him as a guiding light of horribleness. He has found someone even more evil than he is, and he is not about to get on his wrong side. My guess is that Miller has *something* on tRump that could destroy him is it ever got out, so he's handing him the keys to the kingdom and letting him run wild with his totalitarian fantasies lest Miller bring him down, too.
Since almost all of his cabinet is now in an 'acting' position (i.e., not nominated or confirmed by the Senate), they are not subject to a lot of the restraints that an actual confirmation would incur (as simplistic and partisan as it has become in the current Senate).
The only restriction seems to be the length of time someone can be an in an 'acting' position, hence the revolving door with his appointees to powerful positions. They've got that door revolving fast enough to be the main ventilation system for the entire White House complex.

(9,895 posts)Miller is a fucking lunatic and has the appearance of a Nazi because he has the soul of a Nazi (or total lack thereof...whichever gives them that vacant, reptilian look).
I have seen images of Cobras that are more human than he appears.

(10,279 posts)civil government is frozen thanks to the Majority Leader of the Senate. When this over, every Senator who facilitates the crimes of Trump must be brought to a criminal court to face charges of murder and kidnapping.

(5,801 posts)and yes, miller is formulating the strategy that nazi don intends to ride to re-election--stirring up hatred and fear of foreigners and immigrants.
Straight out of the nazi playbook.
I wish I could believe that the American people are too smart to fall for this, but there's the 1/3 that will buy in completely. And they vote. And enough additional low information voters that will be frightened into thinking they have to vote for this asshat to be safe.
Will the neo nazis succeed in scaring enough people into forgetting that they got ripped off by the tax scam and lack secure healthcare, and that this administration is monstrous?
