Mueller's report could be out within a week, Barr says during hearing
Source: Roll Call
Attorney General William Barr told lawmakers Tuesday that he will be in a position to release a version of the special counsel report within a week, with color-coded notes explaining why he redacted any information.
Barr, before an appropriations subcommittee, reiterated that he would withhold information from the report such as grand jury material or information that could reveal counterintelligence methods or interfere with ongoing prosecutions.
I think from my standpoint, within a week, I will be in a position to release the report with the public, Barr said. And then I will engage with the chairman of both judiciary committees about that report and any further requests that they have.
But he closed off much further discussion about the report, telling House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey, D-N.Y., that he was not going to discuss it any further until the report is out.

(7,403 posts)The Barr report on the Mueller report will be released. Only the unredacted report is the Mueller report. Everything else is the Barr report. Indeed, Barr has said that information about people like Individual 1, Don Jr., etc. will be redacted because they have not been charged. He also refused to get a court order to reveal Grand Jury material, which is done routinely in cases such as this. This report will be a shell of what it should be. Indeed, it reminds me of Nixon releasing edited transcripts of his tape recordings. That was not accepted and neither should the Barr report be accepted. Congress needs the full Mueller report unredacted and only the part that would reveal sources and methods should be redacted and made public.
Framing is vital and the framing here stinks. What is being released in roughly a week is clearly the Barr report so start getting it right.

I prefer it, but either one will do.

(7,530 posts)It's CONGRESS who is entitled to see the full unredacted report full-stop end-of-sentence period.

(7,403 posts)I did allow for redaction on the public copy for sources and methods, which means the counterintelligence stuff. That would be the juicy stuff involving money laundering and the wiretap stuff involving the Russians.

This is bullshit!
