Anti-American Protests Over Film Enter 4th Day

Source: NY Times

CAIRO — Anti-American protests inspired by a video denigrating the Prophet Muhammad entered a fourth straight day here in the Egyptian capital and other demonstrations erupted in much of the Middle East after Friday Prayer — an occasion often associated with public displays of dissent.

Witnesses in Cairo said protests that first flared on Tuesday — the day J. Christopher Stevens, the American ambassador in Libya, was killed in an attack in neighboring Libya — continued sporadically early Friday, with protesters throwing rocks and gasoline bombs near the American Embassy and the police firing tear gas.

In Lebanon, one person was killed and 25 injured as protesters attacked restaurants, while in Sudan demonstrations flared outside of the German and British embassies. There was also turmoil in Yemen, Bangladesh, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq. Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces in Jerusalem, and held protests in the West Bank and Gaza.

I really think it's clear that while these protests may have been inspired by the video, the root cause is the United States' invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as our policies in the mideast. THAT IS NOT TO DEFEND THE VIOLENCE, BUT IS AN EXPLANATION...

I'm not sure how the US could mitigate the root cause for the violence. The video was not US-sanctioned, but seems like those engaging in the violence don't want to hear that. We did support the Egyptians during their recent uprising, and we do send them an awful lot of money. Perhaps those are policies we should change. I don't really know--I'm very confused as to what the answer is. For the record, I don't buy your explanation, so I guess the bottom line is, it's complicated. R***** just stated that if he'd been president Ambassador Stevens would not have been killed. Maybe things will work better if he's in charge. Somewhere there has to be an answer. Or...maybe not.

My head hurts now.

It was conceived, created, and distributed solely to impact the 2012 election by inciting violence in the Middle East.

It was Romney's 9-11

that turns out to be true, money can be hidden too easily so we probably would never know who really sponsored it, but if it ends up at rmoney or rethug party door? I can only say they are responsible for the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and the others that died. Period. And like that meth maker/filmmaker and terry DS jones, should be brought up on charges of collusion with the enemy. Period .Robme? POS

many balls are being juggled at once, too many intervening variables.
