Libya crisis: Trump speaks to insurgent General Haftar

Source: BBC

The White House says President Trump has spoken to Libyan eastern commander General Khalifa Haftar, whose forces are attacking the capital Tripoli.

During Monday's call, Mr Trump recognised Gen Haftar's efforts to combat terrorism and secure Libya's oil and they discussed Libya's future.

When they say "allies", they mean "the countries who are officially allied to the USA" - there's a UK-backed ceasefire UN Security Council resolution, but Russia and the USA won't support it. Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia support the general, so Trump is doing the bidding of his personal "allies", rather than his country's allies.

Whatever the good points of either side, it's undeniable that Haftar started the recent fighting. More than 200 have been killed.

The traitor adores oil rich country's..

Russia, which has long stressed it deals equally with Libya's rivals, has expressed concern over airstrikes against the LNA during its latest offensive. And US Secretary of State Pompeo said the US was "deeply concerned about fighting near Tripoli" and stressed the need for talks.
