Bibi Denies Election Meddling In... Adelson Paper

Source: Daily Beast

After getting rapped for, as the accusation goes, meddling in U.S. elections, Benjamin Netanyahu today emphatically denied the charge. What venue did Netanyahu choose to dismiss the notion that his clamorous demands on U.S. foreign policy had nothing whatsoever to do with American politics? Josh Nathan-Kazis at the Forward:

Netanyahu told an Israeli paper in an interview previewed today that the charge was “[N]onsense because the issue that is guiding me is not the U.S. elections, but the centrifuges in Iran, and what can I do if the centrifuges in Iran are inconsiderate of the U.S. political timetable?”

The Israeli paper was Israel Hayom, a free daily owned by the American Jewish casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson. Adelson and his wife have given $10 million to Mitt Romney’s super PAC, making them some of this election cycle’s most prominent political donors.

Adelson became a household name this election cycle by, among other things, reportedly pledging a "limitless" amount of his billions to unseat Obama, and much of it could be given in secret. In a 2008 profile of Adelson for the New Yorker, Connie Bruck wrote, "In the Israeli media world, Israel Hayom is referred to as Bibi-ton, because many believe that it serves as a mouthpiece for Netanyahu."

Welcome to life after Citizens United where billionaires treat the Prime Minister of Israel and the Republican Presidential Nominee as their own personal plaything to promote their rightwing agenda at the expense of the people of Israel and the United States.

Senator slams Netanyahu for interfering in US election

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s comments on Iran have triggered a backlash among some in Washington and the American media this week, as he was slammed for undermining Israel’s closest ally and trying to influence American politics.

In an unusual public display of criticism from an influential member of the US Senate, California Democrat Barbara Boxer wrote a letter to Netanyahu Wednesday to express “my deep disappointment over your remarks that call into question our country’s support for Israel.” She went on to describe them as “utterly contrary to the extraordinary United States- Israel alliance.”

On Tuesday, Netanyahu – in response to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statement that the US wasn’t setting deadlines for Iran – said, “Those in the international community who refuse to put deadlines in front of Iran do not have the moral right to put a red light before Israel.”

Boxer’s letter, made public, calls on Netanyahu to “step back and clarify your remarks so that the world sees that there is no daylight between the United States and Israel.”

that we are not setting specific(s) as to the conditions for when we would attack Iran . For an attack on Iran to be truly successful Israel needs American assistance, there have been estimates that 300-500 Israelis would die in the Iranian retaliation for such an attack by Israel

Bibi may well have over extended himself on this one and the Israeli elections are a couple of months after ours and IMO that too is playing strongly on what he says

as to our support having "strings attached" it surely doesn't seem that way , Obama has given Israel more financial support in the way of defense than virtually any other POTUS but still............

The Iranian PEOPLE are much more civilized and peace-loving than their leaders. If Iran is unilaterally attacked by Israel, they should be on their own. No way should we have to spend our children's lives and future on ill-conceived wars of aggression.

If they tried to use them... their country would be blown to bits and they know it.
Lots of countries have nukes and they don't use them. Arma...what's his name just wants to be a big shot on the world stage an go face to face with Obama. We shouldn't lose one man or spend one dollar to stop him...he isn't worth shit!
