Romney denounces film aimed at Muslims
Source: Los Angeles Time reprinted in Philadelphia Enquire
NEW YORK - Mitt Romney on Friday denounced an anti-Muslim film that is stirring unrest in the Middle East, even as he stood by his condemnation of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for its implied denunciation of the film.
Speaking to George Stephanopoulos of ABC's Good Morning America, Romney said he still believed it was "inappropriate" for the embassy to put out the statement, issued as anger rose in Egypt on Tuesday over a film that ridiculed the Muslim prophet Muhammad. He said the embassy should have taken the statement down after protesters breached the embassy grounds. The same day, attackers in Libya stormed a U.S. consulate and killed four foreign service officers, including the ambassador, J. Christopher Stevens.
The Cairo embassy's news release said the United States "condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. " It added: "We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others

TRoll (Borrowed) News...
One of the values Americans hold dear is the fundamental right of free speech and it allows every American to express their ideas of what right conduct entails even when their ideas are steeped in religious bigotry.
Seriously, does Willard regard religious bigotry an American value?
It is well-known the Mormons believed African-Americans were cursed by god until 1978...we are not talking about hundreds of years...its only 34 years!
TRoll News...He wont show his taxes because according to him it will fodder for the left...his religious morals are out of bounds.....right!

(582 posts)Mitt condemns the film, condemns the apology, and refuses to acknowledge that the apology happened before the attacks. First of all, kudos to Obama, for thinking of apologizing in the first place. Secondly, are the Republicans trying to throw the election? I mean, really! Romney supporters must be getting dizzy trying to keep up with Mitt.

(7,570 posts)They were rightfully (and, ultimately, futilely) trying to defuse a bad situation. Romney either had his information wrong or, more likely, he was willfully lying.
I just wanted to make sure you were clear about that. Most Americans are.

(582 posts)I wasn't sure if it was an through the embassy Obama statement, an embassy statement in the name of the President, or a statement from the embassy itself. In any case, I have been always clear that the "apology" preceeded the actual attacks.

(8,081 posts)the Cairo embassy staff, sensing an increasing rage in the community around them, and hoping to defuse the tension and possibly save American lives, issue a statement supporting religious tolerance and condemning bigotry against any religious community. Romney, five thousand miles away and clueless as to the actual situation, condemns this as a craven, cowardly surrender, an "apology" for American values, and attacks said staff while it is in the direct line of fire.
But then this same Romney is justified in making essentially the same statement, days later, not to save lives, but in an effort to save his own political ass, all the while refusing to apologize, equivocate, or reconsider the essential cowardice and duplicity of this own position.
And this is the "strong leadership" Republicans want us to embrace?

Not saying its in the bag, not saying we don't need to work our asses off, but last week Mitt Romney fucked up so badly that he's lost this race. He could have played it differently and scored major points. Instead he let his true character shine through, proving Clint Eastwood wrong-Mitt Romney CAN fuck himself!
