Poll: Obama widens lead in Pennsylvania

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer

The Inquirer survey of 600 likely voters, conducted Sept. 9-12, found that 50 percent would vote for Obama if the election were held today, and 39 percent would vote for Romney.

Obama's lead was up from the 9 points found in the first Inquirer poll, Aug. 21-23, in which he led, 51-42. Poll results included voters who were leaning toward a candidate. Both surveys had an error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The Obama edge stands where it was when the 2008 campaign ended. Obama beat John McCain, the GOP nominee that year, by 11 1/2 points.

Statewide, Obama was ahead among all age groups, among both men and women, among those with college education and those without.

The President is also ahead among white voters, 46-43.

A Philadelphia Inquirer poll released Saturday has President Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney in Pennsylvania, 50 percent to 39 percent.

From the press release:

The voters provided their opinion of the President, with a 56% favorable/40% unfavorable rating.

Following the conventions, Obama’s favorability rating has increased by 3 points, while his unfavorable rating has decreased by 6 points. Opinions of Romney have improved slightly following the conventions, but he still has a net negative personal popularity rating among voters in state, with 46% favorable/48% unfavorable rating.

Make sure you have a valid drivers license or other ID and vote!!!
My daughter recently got married and she is not going to change her name until after the election so all her stuff matches. She was raised well.

they are going all out to suppress the vote. Jim Crammer's father who was a WWII vet said he could not vote until Crammer made an issue of it. There are a lot of people in that situation, and you daughters situation. It is said as many as 20% of eligible voters could be denied the vote because of this.

What they need to do is have the court overturn this unfair law for what it is, voter suppression

We lose PA because of this nonsense then it is over

The Supreme Court in the Commonwealth of PA WILL STRIKE THE VOTER ID LAW DOWN! You may disagree, but the fact that the September 13, 2012 hearing was televised indicates to me that the court will strike the law down. Sorry Senate leader Mike "Turdize":you LOSE!

PA is the key to President Obama winning in 2012! With a win in PA, he could still lose Ohio and Florida and win the election. After the debates, I think the president will also carry Ohio

to vote for democrats down the ticket so voter suppression laws won't be enacted in the first place.

We need democratic legislatures, secretaries of state and governors in all swing states for the future elections.

A least in our little corner of rural PA, we're just beginning our canvassing today. I registered two voters and talked to many lovely people this morning. It's feeling very positive.

I believe the rest of PA is doing the same thing. Obama has a lead in PA right now, but what you guys are doing will help SOLIDIFY that lead and we won't ever have to hear from Romney again...
