Barr considering possible rule changes at DOJ in wake of Russia investigation: report
BY JOHN BOWDEN - 05/17/19 08:38 AM EDT
Attorney General William Barr is considering changes to Justice Department protocol because of the surveillance of U.S. citizens in the investigation of the 2016 election, remarks likely to add to the debate around President Trump's charge that his campaign was spied upon.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Barr confirmed that he was reviewing the Justice Department rules that surrounded the investigation, while offering no specifics on what changes could be on the way for the agency.
Government power was used to spy on American citizens, he said. I cant imagine any world where we wouldnt take a look and make sure that was done properly.
Just like we need to ensure that foreign actors dont influence the outcome of our elections, we need to ensure that the government doesnt use its powers to put a thumb on the scale," Barr continued.
....
His comments about possible impropriety at the Justice Department come the same day as some of Trump's harshest rhetoric yet concerning the investigation into his campaign: In a series of tweets Friday, the president referred to the probe as "treason" and called for jail time for those responsible.

(39,382 posts)Oh right, its been about two months since the Barr Summary and we have neither seen an unredacted Mueller Report nor do we know when well hear from Mueller. Meantime, they get to infect the airwaves with their counter-narrative, with no shortage of taunts for Madame Speaker included. Ill go back to keeping my powder dry now.

(1,501 posts)it's OK to listen in on why they are COLLUDING with. That's why the wiretaps were LEGITIMATELY allowed.
if it's an American citizen COLLUDING with Russia to aid Russian spying, then it's perfectly OK to wiretap them.
sorry Carter Page et al.
the only reason we LEGITIMATELY spied in US citizens was when they were COLLUDING with Russia AGAINST the USA. That makes them RUSSIAN AGENTS.
and anyone who tries to cover up for them is as well. Got it Billy?

(7,142 posts)if they do their job but if it is critical of the narrative that Trump/Barr are putting out there, they are going to be investigated and subjected to possible jail time. Trump is putting on a push to pack the courts with Nazis and he is also taking control of our intelligence agencies. FBI director Wray made 1 statement that went against the Trump narrative and it almost cost him his job, it still might.
Still waiting for a lion of the Senate to step forward. Still waiting for our presidential candidates to step forward and take on Trump. Trump/Barr are controlling the narrative right now.
Keeping our powder dry may very well be the best political solution to removing Trump from office, but it will only work if we have fair elections.
We need to go to paper ballots in as many states as Democrats have power, and quickly.
