Justice Dept. Agrees to Turn Over Key Mueller Evidence to House
Source: New York Times
WASHINGTON The Justice Department, after weeks of tense negotiations, has agreed to provide Congress with key evidence collected by Robert S. Mueller III that could shed light on possible obstruction of justice and abuse of power by President Trump, the House Judiciary Committee said on Monday.
The exact scope of the material the Justice Department has agreed to provide was not immediately clear, though the committee signaled that it could be a breakthrough after weeks of wrangling over those materials and others that the Judiciary panel demanded under subpoena. The Trump administrations blockade of the material had ground the Democratic investigations of Mr. Trumps possible obstruction of justice and abuse of power to a halt.
The agreement appears to have been foreshadowed in an exchange of letters in recent weeks between the committee and the department. In a May 24 letter outlining a proposed compromise, Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, the committee chairman, wrote that he was prepared to prioritize production of materials that would provide the committee with the most insight into certain incidents when the special counsel found substantial evidence of obstruction of justice.
Those incidences include Mr. Trumps attempts to fire Mr. Mueller, the special counsel; his request that Donald F. McGahn II, the former White House counsel, create a fraudulent record denying that incident; and Mr. Trumps efforts to get former Attorney General Jeff Sessions to undo his recusal and curtail the scope of the special counsel inquiry.

Barr can play games like this right up to the election. Who knows what Barr is releasing, whether it is genuine or not? Rosenstein turned out to be a rat.
Mueller needs to validate everything that Barr releases.
The "Justice" Department is currently under the control of a Trump stooge.

(15,646 posts)with what we already know wouldn't just be naive, it would be negligent. Skepticism is warranted. Stop negotiating with crooks. Just start the impeachment inquiry. It strengthens the House's hand. Nothing from Grand Jury proceedings could be legitimately held back once that is done.

(13,582 posts)I dont trust Barr any further than I could throw him. I suspect he will feed Republican fellow travelers bogus info that will stoke the Its all Hillarys fault narrative. Mueller needs to confirm or deny the scope and contents of any release from the Presidents Attorney at the DOJ.

(30,745 posts)Remember when Nixon tried to give the Watergate committee loose leaf notebooks with an edited version of what was on the tapes? He had a news conference and told us he was not a crook. I hope it is not that kind of evidence. I hope we don't fall for this.

(4,341 posts)I would suggest they demand ALL of the evidence, knowing these crooks, they intend to determine what "Key evidence" is.

(4,341 posts)Excuse me but, a "breakthrough" would be ALL of the evidence, not what they want to pick and choose.
This is what infuriates me about the Democrats, they are given piecemeal and they are happy, its like the bully taking your lunch but he lets you take a byte, and the bullied is very happy.
Enough people! Time to be the one on top, time to be the one holding the baton, to be the one who controls the conversation.

Meaning the "media" has no clue but they have to write their copy and publish it anyway.

He should be held in contempt.
We should be having impeachment investigation hearings so we can get the Mueller grand jury info.
We should not be at the mercy of Barr deciding what are "key" documents. We must get it ALL. Barr has already shown he is part of the coverup. Why are we taking his word on anything?
