Trump hints at action over French wine tariffs

Source: The Hill

President Trump on Monday suggested he may take action to address what he deems an unfair tariff imbalance on wine imports and exports with France.

The president was defending his use of tariffs against China during an interview with CNBC when he cited other examples where he believes the U.S. is being treated unfairly on trade.

"You know, France charges us a lot for the wine and yet we charge them little for French wine," Trump said.

The president claimed that winemakers in California complained to him that French wine can be imported at little cost, but that they have to pay high duties to export their products into France.

be even.

Whatever American products are nailed with, that's what we should do.

Put the ball in the other court: don't want tariffs on your products, drop them on ours.

Fair trade, not free trade.

French wine. Plus, who is going to buy Trump’s slop in France, or anywhere else, anyway?

We don't have much use for French wines, but I've enjoyed quite over the years.

I won't even address the swill coming out of the Trump winery, but I've read the reviews, and they are hilarious.

If you want cheap, decent wines, take a look at the Chilean wines. Australian wines are good, too, but their prices have crept upwards in recent years.

Hubby and I are in the Carneros area pretty regularly. We are members at several wineries in the area, and are light collectors.
