HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said on Tuesday the extradition bill that sparked the Chinese-ruled city’s biggest crisis in decades is dead and that government work on the legislation had been a “total failure”, but critics accused her of playing with words.

The bill, which would allow people in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China to face trial in courts controlled by the Communist Party, sparked huge and at times violent street protests and plunged the former British colony into turmoil.

In mid-June, Lam responded to protests that drew hundreds of thousands of people on to the streets by suspending the bill, but that did not stop demonstrations that shut government offices and brought parts of the financial center to a standstill.

Her latest attempt to restore order did not satisfy many protesters who stood by demands that she completely withdraw the bill.

I wouldn't trust her or the communist with anything........................they are just as bad as any other criminal regime, they say one thing and then do another, it's all about power and greed...................put up a independent inquiry investigation, what are the communist and her worried about...........

1. The ruler of Hong Kong has basically been forced onto Hong Kong by the government in Beijing.

2. China has a massive corruption-problem. And I mean MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole chinese government top to bottom has been subverted by networks of politicians and businessmen absuing their power to enrich themselves at the expense of the public. Xi Jinping's moves to fight those networks is nothing but cover to take out rivals. THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT IS FUCKING KIDNAPPING AND DISAPPEARING BOOKSELLERS WHO SELL A BOOK HOW XI JINPING BECAME BILLIONAIRE!!!!!

3. Even if you ignore all that, the disdain for the will of the people and the corruption, there is still the problem that THE PURPOSE OF THE LEGAL COURTS IN CHINA IS EXPRESSLY NOT PROVIDE JUSTICE. THEIR PURPOSE IS TO FURTHER THE INTERESTS OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY!!!! Good luck trying to get justice in China when the constitutional duty of the courts is to look the other way.
