Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) will call on Tuesday for Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta to resign amid growing criticism about his ties to financier Jeffrey Epstein, a source close to the Democratic leader confirmed to The Hill.
Schumer's forthcoming remarks come after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tweeted on Monday evening that Acosta should step down over his involvement in a 2008 plea deal with Epstein.
@SecretaryAcosta must step down, Pelosi tweeted. As US Attorney, he engaged in an unconscionable agreement w/ Jeffrey Epstein kept secret from courageous, young victims preventing them from seeking justice. This was known by @POTUS when he appointed him to the cabinet.
Schumer and Pelosi are part of a growing chorus of voices calling for Acosta to resign over the 2008 deal.

(4,268 posts)I'd probably get spanked if I gave my opinion on Schumer, so I won't
But I think the Dems are jumping the gun a little bit here. Is calling him to step down the right thing to do? Yes, absolutely.
I could be wrong, I'm not perfect 100% of the time (just kidding!!!); but I would wait until more information comes out. Sort of like letting it simmer a little bit more to see who else gets caught in this and/or to let it get worse. Asking for his resignation right now only distracts from the rest of the shit show and what is yet to come.
*EVERYONE* should be calling on that bastard to step down - EVERYONE

Classic trump verbal diarrhea!
Care to try that AGAIN?

Look at how the MAGAts hounded HRC over a series of issues, for decades
Hoisting Acosta with all his warts for the nation to see reflects poorly on Trump, who put him there, and now it looks like any moron could guess WHY Trump placed Acosta as Secretary of Labor

However, stating of course Trump would back this guy would be the correct response.
