Source: ABC News
Capitol Police arrested 70 people in the Senate office building Thursday, including a 90-year-old nun, as demonstrators gathered to protest the administrations immigration policies.
The arrests came as tensions flared on Capitol Hill surrounding the immigration debate, including allegations of massive overcrowding and unsanitary conditions at U.S. Border Patrol facilities.
The United States Capitol Police arrested 70 individuals for unlawfully demonstrating in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building. All were charged with D.C. Code §22-1307, Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding, USCP Communications Director Eva Malecki wrote in an email.
At the protest, Sister Pat Murphy, 90, a member of the Sisters of Mercy, who traveled to Washington, D.C., from Chicago, said she was one of those arrested.

(51,592 posts)and the "anti-choice" events there were "ministers" of several faiths and genders and cultures but no Atheists spoke at any of them. My friend and I noticed that and I am sure others did too.

(44 posts)The invitation was to ministers and people of faith. As an atheist that says to me that I am not welcome. Atheists are simply people without god beliefs. We don't have "ministers" or other leaders to step up and give speeches. We don't all think alike any more than any other unorganized group of people.
