URPHY, N.C. (AP) A new billboard in North Carolina shows four minority congresswomen smiling down on the small town of Murphy, their faces at odds with the apocalyptic phrase slapped above them: The 4 Horsemen Cometh.
The billboard funded by a local gun shop then shows a red line striking out the last word, editing the phrase to instead say "The 4 Horsemen are Idiots." The Charlotte Observer reports the billboard by Cherokee Guns targets the same congresswomen who President Donald Trump recently told to return to the "crime infested places from which they came."
Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib are all U.S. citizens, and only one emigrated from another country. The sign is signed "the Deplorables," and has sparked sharp reactions online, both supportive and appalled.

(36,829 posts)the "Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse" are actually good guys in the Bible.
John Kennedy just called the women freshmen righteous and terrifying warriors for God. Okay then.

He doesn't have his chapter of Revelation quite right. The "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" brought righteous justice, not Hell, in the final battle between good and evil on Earth. They are released upon the world by the opening of "seals" by "the lamb," meaning Christ. And while they are 'conquest, war, famine, and death' they're put on the earth by God (yeah, Revelation is creepy) to bring about a just cleansing of evil on earth. The good guys are taken up to heaven with the Lamb.

(19,479 posts)Comest is second person singular.
I come
Thou comest
He cometh
I think the plurals are all come.
Or possibly I've misremembered. That's always possible. That possibility remaineth.

(2,199 posts)the southwestern most county in NC. Relatively poor county, but Murphy is a great little town and the mountains are wonderful. Appalachian Trail goes through the county and there are some great trout streams in the county. Poor and illiterate, $27,000+ mean income, 79% WHite, 9% Black, 5+% Hispanic....I'm not the least bit surprised a billboard like that has been purchased in Cherokee or anywhere else in rural NC. I'm rural, love rural NC but luckily near a Purple section of NC. I'm so proud of our 4 Congressional Women of Color and the fight they are taking to trump and his minions.
