Texas shooting: At least 20 shot as two gunmen 'fire at random from vehicles'

Source: Independent

At least 22 people have been shot and two killed in Odessa, Texas after two gumen fired on a home depot store, before driving away and opening fire "at random".

Midland Police Department in Texas confirmed there were reports of an active shooter at the hardware store, before following up with warnings that two gunmen were at large - one in a gold-white toyota truck and the other in a postal van.

The two are now reportedly driving around the area and opening fire from the vehicles.

The mayor of Odessa Jerry Morales said "They are shooting at random,”, according to reports from The New York Times. He added: “We have two fatalities and up to 20 injuries.”

Remind me to avoid Texas, especially with their new and worse gun laws.

Neither rain, sleet, driving snow, or the dark of night will stay a postal worker from delivering the mail, but routine traffic stops and searches by the Texas Rangers just might today.

Seriously, I hope they catch up to them soon. It's always best to get them while they're still red-handed.

many frontier towns banned firearms in town limits. "Good guy with a gun" is a ridiculous myth. More like some guy wets his pants at the first sound of gunfire and hangs around outside until the danger has passed, a la Parkland. Or some guy screws up and accidentally shoots an innocent bystander. Better yet, some guy fumbles his shootin' iron and pops himself. Movie cowboys. Ugh!

Has anyone tallied up the medical costs of these incidents? The lifelong medical costs of survivors?

These have got to be at least a couple hundred thousand dollars per victim, just to treat the injured.

This is insane.

GUN COMPANIES are shielded by law from liability
when some people get guns, fall in love with tRump,
then shoot and kill others.

Equal justice and equal application of the Law?

There's a 2nd Amendment right to own a gun, but as far as
I can tell there is no 2nd Amendment right to sell a gun.
Particularly to rightwing asshats.

Without a 34 State majority, there won't be a difference. Di Fi focuses on the wrong things. Black rifles with pistol grips are functionally no different than wooden framed rifles. Address the functionality instead. Magazine limits? Wrong approach. A limiter that reduces rate of fire? Now that might be the approach that works. Pass a law that says no rifle can, or be midified to, fire more than one round every X seconds. Hunting won't be affected. If you miss, you don't deserve a second shot. 2A is preserved. The ability to gun down a crowd hindered.

What about the stuff already out there? I simply cannot fathom how, without violations of several amendments and illegal actions, one could get them off the hands of those who have them. I can, however, see requiring some device that limits rate of fire being a requirement for having such a weapon outside the home.

I dunno. Just daydreaming.
