Revealed: Georgia Republicans use power of state to suppress minority vote
Source: The Guardian
Top Georgia Republicans continue to use the power of the state to investigate political rivals, executing a strategy that voting rights activists say is designed to intimidate voting rights organizations and activists serving minority communities.
Brad Raffensperger, the secretary of state, and David Emadi, executive secretary of the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission, are investigating and issuing subpoenas to political opponents, without publicly showing evidence there was wrongdoing by those parties.

Georgias governor, Brian Kemp, pioneered the tactic as secretary of state, where he used his authority to investigate political opponents, liberal political groups and get out the vote (GOTV) organizers working in racial minority communities.
To date, none of the investigations, subpoenas, arrests or prosecutions against political opponents and minority GOTV organizers have led to convictions, meaning that Kemps and now Raffensperger and Emadis political rivals remain innocent of charges brought against them.

Yeah, I know good people live in Georgia... Apparently good people live everywhere, which is why we don't use, effectively, the only tool that works... the wallet.
I'm willing to make some sacrifices. I now live in Pennsylvania. If a boycott of PA will help get rid of the massive turd that is floating around OUR white house, GO for it.

(70,291 posts)the Democrat in the Governor's race in KY in 2015, and i might be nutz but I think OH 2018
was way dirty too. 250,000 people voted for a liberal democrat for the US Senate, Brown, but
then turned around and voted for conservative GOPers for Governor, A.G., and Sec. of State.
Republicans know that demographics and the issues doom them so they have to cheat and
pack the courts to keep power. Hell, South Carolina is 35% African American and 11% (and
growing) Hispanic so it should be a blue state.

We can't keep letting this happen.

that does not match the demographics and social demands. Exit polls no longer matched the
vote.
McConnell is well aware of just how dirty our elections are and welcomes it too.
BTW i want to vomit every time i hear about how Trump got elected. He was not elected,
he was installed by Russia with help inside America, and the exit polls show that HRC
won.

There was no reason for the GOP-controlled Michigan Supreme Court to refuse to allow the recount to go forward. I think they had a good idea that the recount would not sustain the Election Day results.

THIS is it. Eating away at Democracy and the sanctity of the vote.
And it must be fought and otherwise resisted as long as it lurks in ANY corner or shadow of our reality.

(7,604 posts)SOS's are a racket all over the country not only with certification of unverifiable "voting" equipment, but with tactics such as what's discussed in OP. NASS.org is as bad as NRA until it cleans up its act and demands that ballots be handmarked and hand counted at the precinct level with public oversight.

I file absentee. You have to ask for them. Husted was forced to send notices in the 2016 election after he lost many lawsuits.
