The DOD is taking money from 127 projects in 23 states and three territories to build Trump's long-promised wall along the southern border.

President Donald Trump is building his wall, and Puerto Rico is going to pay for it.

The Department of Defense released a list of 127 military construction projects that are being delayed as the agency moves $3.6 billion to pay for construction of fencing along the southern border, and the U.S. territory is one of the hardest hit by the move.

The department said it was holding off on over $400 million in funding for ten construction projects on the island, including a power substation and a National Guard readiness center. A senior Defense official downplayed the potential impact of the move and noted that most of the projects on the island — which is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Maria in 2017 — weren't slated to begin work until Sept. 2020 at the earliest.

"We don't see ourselves delaying those projects. We're fully committed to that recovery," the official said.

The U.S. territory of Guam — which was threatened with a missile strike by North Korea in 2017 — is set to lose $250 million in construction projects, the agency said.

The diversions also hit 23 states, with New York and New Mexico— both represented by Democrats— taking the brunt of the blow.

2. The trumpian logic escapes me.

Congress has not appropriated any money for a new wall, only a few limited repairs. Congress did use taxpayer money to fund building products the military listed as crucial to their missions.

Trump is essentially stealing OUR money and using it to boost his election effort. How is he going to be "fully committed" to restoring Puerto Rico's infrastructure when he's robbing them blind?

I suspect that Trump will order the Pentagon to resubment identical funding requests to Congress to refund the projects he looted for his wall. So the taxpayers are unwittingly paying for Trump's wall, plus we are going to pay twice to restock the money the military needed for those work projects.

8. He wants The Wall built before the election

So that he can claim victory on something.

That he has to steal money from other governments projects is the only way this thing will get built.

Face it, trumpie doesn't care WHO or WHAT he fucks over to get what he wants. He has NEVER been told NO in his entire life that he hasn't found a way around that. I just wish that Congress would find some fucking backbone stand up to him.

I have lost patience with Nancy Pelosi. This man is destroying the country and everything it stands for. If she will not implement impeachment proceedings against him, she needs to stand down.

Real people own that land. Trump can use the force of govt to take it from them, which paints him as the heartless, big, bad govt stealing land from American citizens.

The land owners will likely fight back and each piece of property will be tied up in court for years. If he doesn't have clear title he won't be building anything.

Then there's the environmental impact studies, easement rights, water rights, local and state regs and permits. Trump's Folly!

He has already indicated that he has no problem breaking ANY law to get that thing built, and has said he will do precisely that. And he has said he will grant pardons to staff who do what NO LAW allows them to do to get it.
