NEW YORK (AP) — Ric Ocasek, famed frontman for The Cars rock band, has been found dead in a Manhattan apartment.

The New York City police department said officers responding to a 911 call found the 75-year-old Ocasek at about 4 p.m. on Sunday. They said there was no sign of foul play and that the medical examiner was to determine a cause of death.

The Cars chart-topping hits in the late 1970s and 1980s included "Just What I Needed," ''Shake It Up" and "Drive." The band was inducted last year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In May of 2018, model and actress Paulina Porizkova announced on social media that she and Ocasek had separated after 28 years of marriage. The pair first met while filming the music video for "Drive."

I'm the wrong person to ask about music. I recognize the lyrics or I'd never know who they were talking about.

As fellow boomers approach that age I find my cultural heroes leaving, one by one.

I just saw Donnie Iris and The Cruisers last night in Kent Ohio. At 76 he hopped and pranced the stage like Mick Jagger. He still has the scream, and I'm glad we got together at the same concert before one of us departs. I'm not taking that for granted.

It would have been nice to see Ocasek one more time too. I saw them in the '80s when The Cars opened for Dire Straits.

Goodbye Ric, and thanx.

I would have never made it through my high school years without your music.

as part if my living will, one of my requirements, is the playing the following song at my memorial.

I play it for you now. Cheers...

Another one of my favorites passes. I so remember when they were young and beautiful and full of talent.

Not that much older than me. I feel so old every time this happens now.
