Trump says homelessness hurting real estate prestige, will destroy cities

Source: NBC News

President Donald Trump renewed his complaints about homelessness Tuesday during a swing through California, talking about the harm it does to taxpayers seeking prestigious real estate and warning that cities will "destroy themselves" if his administration doesn’t intervene.

The homeless are living in "our best highways, our best streets, our best entrances to building," Trump told reporters traveling aboard Air Force One with him to a string of fundraisers in California. "People in those buildings pay tremendous taxes where they went to those locations because of the prestige.”

Trump went on to say he has been talking to "foreign people, foreign tenants" in California who want to leave the country because of the homeless problem. Trump has been increasingly raising concern about homelessness, and said the White House would be taking some sort of action soon.

"In many cases they came from other countries and they moved to Los Angeles or they moved to San Francisco because of the prestige of the city, and all of a sudden they have tents," Trump said. "Hundreds and hundreds of tents and people living at the entrance to their office building. And they want to leave. And the people of San Francisco are fed up, and the people of Los Angeles are fed up. And we’re looking at it, and we’ll be doing something about it."

Nothing about helping lift them out of their impoverished condition.

I also suspect this is another trial balloon.

Now he's talking about how bad homeless people are, how they take the value of properties down.

There's a plan to "house" them out of public sight.

Next, they will begin rounding them up and caging them.

Voila, he has a precedent for rounding up citizens for being somehow disruptive to commerce.

One step closer to dictatorship.

Thom Hartmann did an analysis of this on his show yesterday--it's gonna be one of red don's signature campaign issues, attempting to demonize "libruls" and cities to his ignorant base. And, he's CUTTING funding for homeless programs. And, as a caller from I think Oregon said, a lot of the homeless on the coast come there from RED states (where they can't get any help) because at least the climate is more bearable.

Clearly the intent is to create another group of "others" to link to Democrats and "socialism" in the minds of his dimwitted followers. He wants to gin up fear of the homeless as another threatening "horde" now that he's gotten so much mileage out of the "immigrant horde."

Goebbels would be proud.

Most companies and businesses have lost sight of the fact that if the pay low wages it will have a negative impact on the company itself eventually and that applies especially for retailers.
Take Publix for example.
They pay someone decent compared to Walmart but they do not pay enough for most of their employees to afford to shop in their own stores so their employees have to shop elsewhere when they could actually be recouping some of that money if they would offer the employees a decent discount say of 20% for example on up to $250.00 a week of groceries.

Donald Trump tried to limit street vendors on Fifth Ave., including those who were veterans
By Celeste Katz
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | Aug 03, 2015

The Republican White House hopeful, who pegs his own worth at more than $10 billion, often says the nation's service members need a champion.

"We must protect and cherish and take care of our veterans," he said in a recent Facebook video.

But Trump has time and again pushed New York to limit laws on peddling — including by veterans, who can get special vendor licenses from the Department of Consumer Affairs in thanks for their service.

"While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses?" Trump wrote in a 1991 letter to John Dearie, then-chairman of the state Assembly's Committee on Cities.

"Do we allow Fifth Ave., one of the world's finest and most luxurious shopping districts, to be turned into an outdoor flea market, clogging and seriously downgrading the area?" Trump demanded.

New York's original peddling exceptions for veterans date back to 1894 — created to give those disabled during the Civil War a chance to support themselves.

In 2004, when the regulations had come up for renewal, Trump piped up again.

He complained in a letter to then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg that the ambiance of Fifth Ave. — the address of his gleaming Trump Tower headquarters — was being wrecked by peddlers, including some he accused of only posing as vets.

Trump's sally sparked protests from vendors who said they deserved the right to sell their wares on the streets they fought to defend.

The "overnight thing" is called the repo or repurchase market.

What Is a Repurchase Agreement?

A repurchase agreement (repo) is a form of short-term borrowing for dealers in government securities. In the case of a repo, a dealer sells government securities to investors, usually on an overnight basis, and buys them back the following day.

For the party selling the security and agreeing to repurchase it in the future, it is a repo; for the party on the other end of the transaction, buying the security and agreeing to sell in the future, it is a reverse repurchase agreement.

Repos are typically used to raise short-term capital.

Go to this link for much more information on this market and there is a very good short video explaining repo's. Also, repo's played a role in the last financial collapse in 2007-08. That is explained further down in the link.

Banks have "liquidity needs" - cash on hand to pay out withdrawals. And, just for GP, we'll say that Acme Bank needs $1 million of liquidity every day.

If Acme has $1 million in cash on hand, no problem.

If Acme has $850,000 on hand, that's a big problem - people are going to get pissed if they walk in the door and the teller says they don't have any money to give them. So they gotta borrow $150,000 in fives, tens and twenties quick on the overnight market and pay it back with interest by the time the doors open tomorrow morning. Paying it back is no problem; not having folding green in the branch is the issue.

If Acme has $1.3 million on hand, that's an equally big problem: they've got $300,000 sitting there doing nothing. It's Acme Bank, not Acme Money Museum. So, they put it on the overnight market and earn interest from doing so.

He is like some bizarre caricature of an evil leader from a bad dystopian novel that has taken on flesh and become an even more ridicuous version of itself. He is a hideous misanthrope, full of nothing but hate, contempt and bile for everyone but himself.

The man has no human decency.

But what is the deal with his bringing up the foreigners?

"In many cases they came from other countries and they moved to Los Angeles or they moved to San Francisco because of the prestige of the city, and all of a sudden they have tents,"

Wait WhoTF cares about your foreigners? The rednecks trump has been stirring up about immigrants surely don't care.

"Hundreds and hundreds of tents and people living at the entrance to their office building. And they want to leave."

Well, OK. Doesn't he want to get rid of foreigners?

His show family guy Mondo de la Vaga just returned from stay in CA. Homeless everywhere 'in people's yards, right in front of your house'

They had pictures.

And of course Jim quoted scripture to 'prove' this is sign of the End Times!
