A Fox News guest called Greta Thunberg 'mentally ill.' The network apologized
Source: Washington Post
Michael Knowles had just finished discussing why he believes meatless diets may be worse for the environment during a Fox News segment about climate change on Monday night when he suddenly pivoted to one of the days biggest stories.
None of that matters because the climate hysteria movement is not about science, said the conservative pundit and Daily Wire podcast host. If it were about science, it would be led by scientists rather than by politicians and a mentally ill Swedish child who is being exploited by her parents and by the international left.
Knowles, much to the dismay of many viewers and his fellow Fox News guest, was referring to teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, who just hours earlier made headlines for delivering an impassioned message to global leaders at the United Nations. The 16-year-old has been open about being diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome, embracing it as her superpower.
..snip...
The comment made by Michael Knowles who was a guest on The Story tonight was disgraceful we apologize to Greta Thunberg and to our viewers, a spokesperson for the network told The Washington Post in a statement.

On FB she was compared to a lookalike actress who played the robot in the film Metropolis. Trolled as a dupe of "environmental terrorists". Pilloried like Joan of Arc. They're afraid. The change she represents is earth-shaking. Not just a naive little girl from Sweden anymore.

(6,518 posts)Asperger syndrome/ savant syndrome are conditions where the person's focus is on specific "talents". People with these syndromes produce remarkable results in the areas they are focused upon. She is right about it being a super power.

(4,533 posts)People have commented about the large number of genius mathematicians and scientists from Hungary. Several decades ago someone mentioned that to one of them, who was then at Princeton. He said that that was not true. That there was only one real genius from Hungary, John Von Neumann, a mathematician at MIT. He said the rest of them were just very smart. It has been reported that von Neumann used to walk around MIT reading a book held in one hand. In his other hand he held a pencil held out against the wall of the building he was walking past. When the pencil shot out he knew he had gotten to the end of the building. Maybe that is an example of such intense concentration.
