Senate passes measure urging Trump officials to hand over whistleblower complaint

Source: The Hill

The Senate passed a resolution on Tuesday urging the administration to hand over a whistleblower complaint reportedly tied to President Trump.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) asked for unanimous consent to pass the non-binding resolution.

The resolution urges the administration to hand over the complaint and states that the Senate and House Intelligence committees "should be allowed to evaluate the complaint in a deliberate and bipartisan manner consistent with applicable statutes and processes in order to safeguard classified and sensitive information."

The administration has so far refused to hand over the whistleblower complaint, which has led to mounting scrutiny of the president.

Why did McConnell encourage this to go through? What's his strategy?

My wild-eyed theory is that even McConnell has had enough of Trump and the Ukraine business was the last straw. Is he throwing Trump under the bus?

McConnell is just piling on. The info WILL come out regardless of the Senate resolution. They can get all out or get it drip, drip, drip. They are taking the least painful course.

My head is spinning... so the HOUSE launched an official impeachment inquiry, and the SENATE actually passed something and it was THIS?

passed on the House and Senate Intelligence committees. So expect all the stonewalling and ignoring of subpoenas. Democrats better look at what their Sargent at Arms can do and act accordingly. I expect zero compliance from the Whitehouse and full scale vengeance by trump.

This is war, we democrats best be prepared.

9. If they have the complaint there is no reason for the whistleblower to speak.

Whatever is in that complaint is no where near as bad as what the whistle blower could say. That's the only reason I can for see the entire Senate agreeing to this.
