Scott calls impeachment inquiry 'appropriate'
Source: WCAX-TV
MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) Vermont's governor is the first Republican governor to publicly come out in favor of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.
Gov. Phil Scott says Congress has a "solemn responsibility" to fulfill the role of checks and balances in the impeachment proceedings.
Scott says while he believes the inquiry is "appropriate," a lot remains unknown surrounding the allegations Trump urged Ukraine's president to "look into" Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The governor also cautions that the process of impeachment is serious and "should not be taken lightly or abused."
Scott was also outspoken in July after Trump said four Democratic congresswomen of color should "go back" to the countries from which they came. The governor called the president's comments racist and not befitting a world leader.

(14,169 posts)Which is what a lot of us have been thinking for a long time that wanted impeachment way sooner. That not only if they vote no on removal, it will ultimately help us as more criminal acts come out. But that this MSM narrative that "the votes aren't there, so why even consider it?" that Nancy had clung to for far too long, was based on assumptions that Trump is somehow invincible, and untouchable, because of his populist appeal, and every single R senator would not crack.
What I saw with people like Frum, Navarro, Smith, and other Republicans joining them every day, that there is a big possibility that there could be 10 Republicans who would cross the floor to vote with Democrats on this, seeing that the writing was on the wall for Trump. That there were at least 10 Rs in the senate that had a bare minimum of integrity and patriotism.
