Manhattan DA, Trump reach temporary deal on subpoena for Trump's tax returns

Source: Politico

In a letter to federal Judge Victor Marrero today, attorneys in the DA’s office said they “reached a temporary arrangement” with Trump’s attorneys to delay enforcement of the subpoena until 1 p.m. two business days after Marrero rules or until 1 p.m. Oct. 7, whichever comes first.

In the meantime, Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars USA, “will resume gathering and preparing all documents responsive to the subpoena,” according to the letter, which was also signed by the president’s attorneys and lawyers for Mazars, which is a defendant in the case.

Unless the court orders otherwise, Mazars will begin “a rolling production” of the tax documents “immediately upon the expiration of this agreement,” with the first delivery by hand on 4 p.m. that day.

Firing the CPAs won't accomplish anything since they have the prior years' workpapers which, except under some limited situations not applicable here, are not privileged.

One reason for the 'pause', which the judge told them to work out among themselves, is that attorneys from SDNY just joined the case on Trump's side and needed some time to catch-up.

4. I wonder if what he is hiding is that he turned over control of most of his wealth to his children

because he has been suffering from the early stages of alzheimer's for years and was losing tons of money on bad investments?
Considering how Trump feels about his image the world knowing that he is incapable of handling his own finances anymore would be devastating to him.
It could also explain part of why he did the Apprentice to earn some spending money.

6. Trump would never admit to that.

He'd have to be declared non compos mentis by a court before he'd do anything like that. Trump's ego prevents him from doing anything that would be normally advantageous to clear minded people. His ego prevails above all.

8. But that's just it he would do it if he knew that he likely would be declared so by a judge

and he is so obsessed over his public image that he would likely concede just to prevent the public from finding out.
It could also explain why his family has supported him and work inside the White House now both because he needs handlers as his condition deteriorates and also they probably see a golden opportunity to enrich themselves in varies ways such as controlling peoples access to him.

9. Not likely. Mental deterioration takes place quickly enough that it would be beyond hiding.

The oaf has been on world stage for nearly three years. The action you propose would have taken place at least five years ago since he has been hiding his taxes before election.

If his kids recognized early signs of dementia in '15, he would be out of the public eye by now.

10. No I think it's going to show that he's broke and owes the Russians big money

Your theory about turning it over to his kids is interesting, but it only reflects what a "normal" American family would do. The Chumps are far from normal!

He does have a will that supposedly leaves $30M to each child, and whatever amount to Melania specified in the pre-nup - but what does that mean if he dies broke?

Would or could they set the trusts up so NO-ONE (creditors) be able to get their money? This could be a big mess if he's not having to pay a fucking thing back to anybody! Are they covering their ass while these DELAYS are taking place?

7. Unfortunately, Trump will probably use the delay to run to court to block the production.
